Short version: this app collects nothing and sends nothing. There is one optional feature you can switch on, and this page explains exactly what it does.
Nothing at all.
No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No crash reports. No usage statistics. No cookies that leave your machine. The author receives no information about you — not because it is deleted afterwards, but because it is never sent in the first place.
It stays on your computer.
The simulator runs as a small program on your own machine and opens in your browser. Your inputs, your experimental data files, your results, your exported reports and the program's own log file are all written to your disk and nowhere else.
The part that does the calculating listens only on 127.0.0.1. That address means "this
computer and nothing else" — it is not reachable from your office network, from the internet,
or from another machine in the same room. Closing the browser shuts the program down.
The app can check whether a newer version has been released, so you find out about bug fixes.
It is switched off when you install it. You are asked once. If you say no, you are never asked again and nothing is ever sent.
If you say yes, then once a week the app looks up a single public web address to read the latest version number, and compares it with yours. If yours is older, a small link appears at the bottom of the window. That is the entire feature.
What is sent: a request for a version number. No name, no email, no account, no licence key, no machine identifier, nothing about your simulations or your data. It is the same request your browser would make if you typed that address in yourself.
What it reveals: your IP address, to GitHub — the company hosting the version file. This is true of visiting any website: a server has to know where to send the answer. GitHub may keep that in its own logs under its own privacy policy. It is not passed to us, and we never see it. We receive nothing.
If you would rather not make that request at all, leave the setting off. Nothing else in the app depends on it, and you can check the download page yourself whenever you like. You can turn it on or off at any time under © Credits.
The interface prefers two typefaces and will fetch them from Google Fonts if your machine happens to be online. If it cannot, it quietly uses fonts you already have and looks very slightly different. Nothing else about the app needs the internet.
- We do not track you.
- We do not profile you.
- We do not sell or share anything, because we have nothing to sell or share.
- We cannot identify you, even if asked to.
