Subject: [PATCH] docs(site): show GitHub stars and PyPI downloads badges

Add a stars badge linking to the repository and a monthly downloads
badge linking to pypistats.org to the hero badge row. Both come from
shields.io and update themselves, so the page still has no JavaScript,
no build step and no counts written into its text.
