The SG90 version has a bigger face

SG90 servos are easy to find and pretty cheap. The only downside is that they’re a bit bulky, so the robot ended up with a bigger face...which actually makes it look even funnier😂

The wiring under the desk is still a bit messy right now, and I’m working on ways to simplify it further.

BTW, the lamp kept failing during printing. I couldn’t really tell what the internal structure was supposed to look like in Bambu Studio, so I eventually just replaced it with a simple cylinder.

I’m curious about the battery I can see in the photo: are you running Tiny Engineer from a battery? If so, what capacity are you using and roughly how long does it run on a charge?

And yes, the wiring can get pretty messy under there. I’m working on an integrated carrier PCB that should simplify it significantly... that’s PR #46

The lamp diffuser can definitely be tricky because the walls need to be quite thin. I’ve now heard similar feedback from another person using a Bambu printer, so I’m going to install Bambu Studio and see how it handles the model, even though I don’t have a Bambu printer myself.

Your build also gave me another idea: at some point it would be really cool to have multiple versions of the head, mugs, desk accessories and other parts so everyone can give their Tiny Engineer a bit of their own personality. That would be awesome. 🤖

@JdaieLin The structure is a cylinder with an inverted cone inside to help the diffusion up the height of the lamp. I was getting only the cone, initially. In Bambu Studio, once you turn on Arachne walls instead of classic. it prints the full model.

The stickers on the desk and the drink in the cup were added by my son — he really loves this little robot.

And yes, since my USB-C power board hasn’t arrived yet, I’m powering it with a PiSugar 3 Air and a 4000mAh battery. It has got 5V and GND pins. I haven’t tested the actual battery life, but I imagine it should last quite a while.

Your integrated carrier PCB would definitely make the wiring under the desk much cleaner — that’s awesome! The direction I’m exploring right now is using a Raspberry Pi Zero with a few off-the-shelf HATs to drive everything. If I use the Whisplay HAT, it would give me a speaker, microphone, LEDs, and an extra display. I’m thinking about turning that display into a tiny tablet sitting on the desk.
