Observation. In Cycle 0073 pt2 (PR 190), the
/shipStep 11 Codex adversarial challenge failed on its first attempt withinput_too_large. The outside-voice brief embeds the whole branch diff, and that came to 1,137,143 characters, against Codex's limit of 1,048,576. The structured review (codex review --base main) was unaffected, because Codex reads the diff itself there.Evidence. On the rerun, the brief was re-rendered with
extension/src/tests/**andextension/scripts/tests/**excluded, which brought it to 585 KB, and the second attempt completed with 2 findings. One of them was a Blocks: yes finding that no other reader raised, about a Pages hit confirmed on the browser's request alone. It was fixed in this PR. The price was that the outside voice saw no test files.Cost. One failed Codex call, a re-render, a second token and a disclosed coverage reduction: about 10 minutes. It will recur on every cycle whose diff is over about 1 MB, and feature cycles with fixtures and run-harness tests reach that size.
Proposal. When the rendered outside-voice brief would exceed the provider's input limit:
git diff <merge-base>) instead of the embedded diff, as the structured review already does; orAll reactions
