on linux, trying to guide the app to a folder will force you to open a file (can't choose folder), which causes it to get replaced by 'run' command (dolphin file manager) #7269

Linux

Describe the bug

i'm on a steam deck so i cant easily do 'ctrl+v' . i cant right click to copy/paste in the modrinth app . i figured i'd do 'browse', paste the path there, and click ok

here's what i paste: /home/deck/.var/app/org.prismlauncher.PrismLauncher/data/PrismLauncher/java/java-runtime-epsilon/bin/java

here's what modrinth edits it to: /run/flatpak/doc/e514e39e/java

(it tries to open the file i select instead of the path to it)

this might be an issue with my file manager (dolphin), but im only encountering it with modrinth

this is what im doing, it has a clear path:

image where u see modrinth open file dialog and see the file 'java' highlighted and a prompt to open it

but it only looks for the path of the opened file, which it just tried to run ...

another screenshot of modrinth where u see an error pop up saying ' /run/flatpak/doc/e514e39e/java is not valid location of java ' and the java installation path being replaced with it, instead of the actual location of the 'java' file

heres another example: i try to import prism launcher, paste /home/deck/.var/app/org.prismlauncher.PrismLauncher/data/PrismLauncher, modrinth instead goes to /run/user/1000/doc/224c3552/PrismLauncher

this is not a big problem as most people will just ctrl+v

Steps to reproduce

  1. have dolphin file manager (maybe? try reproducing on normal linux with gnome or something ... might e bigger problem than just dolphin)
  2. open any browse dialog - looking for java, importing instance from another launcher (NOT mrpack ! if the browse dialog looks for a file, it works as intended)
  3. navigate to where it should look , click enter or choose any file
  4. the path is not saved, instead replaced with '/run/user/.../name_of_file'

Expected behavior

  1. the path is saved normally instead of being replaced

Additional context

im on steam deck (so arch holoOS) and i use kde dolphin file manager

theres also cool alt text for the images
