This PR fixes #1209
Note: There is already a PR that addresses this issue: #1315, written by @dylanpulver. However, that PR was written with AI assistance. At the moment we do not want to deal with the consequences of AI written code in our code base. Therfore that PR got removed, i.e. the develop branch has been reset to the previous state.
