Hi, I'm Jieru Dong 👋

XR · Spatial Computing · Human-Centered AI

I am an MSc student in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality at Lund University, with a background in Information Science and Engineering.

My interests sit at the intersection of extended reality, human perception, multimodal AI, and interactive systems. I am particularly interested in how intelligent systems can understand human behaviour, perception, and physical context, and use that understanding to support more natural interaction between people, digital information, and the physical world.

🧠 Research Direction

A question that connects much of what I am exploring is:

How can intelligent systems better understand human perception and physical context to support natural spatial interaction?

I think about this through three connected layers:

Human Perception → Intelligent Systems → Spatial Interfaces

Rather than focusing only on individual models or technologies, I am interested in complete interactive systems where sensing, perception, computation, and interaction work together.

Current questions I am exploring include how spatial interfaces can present complex information without increasing cognitive load, how XR systems can account for perceptual limitations, how multimodal AI can handle imperfect real-world inputs, and how intelligent systems can support human decisions without removing human agency.
