Fixes #715

Summary

app/robots.ts was previously asynchronous and awaited sitemapUrls(), which in turn invoked backend endpoints (fetchBounties, fetchIndexableReputationHandles) whenever the module cache was cold. A slow, cold, or unreachable backend API delayed or 5xx'd robots.txt requests, causing web crawlers to back off or fail to index the site.

Changes

  • Updated robots.ts to return synchronously without awaiting dynamic backend data.
  • Pointed the sitemap property directly to the canonical and stable ${SITE_URL}/sitemap.xml URL (which is already configured with redirects to child chunks in next.config.ts), decoupling crawler instructions from backend availability.
  • Updated unit tests in robots.test.ts to verify that robots() evaluates synchronously, points to /sitemap.xml, and executes zero network calls to fetchBounties or fetchIndexableReputationHandles.

robots.txt waits on a backend fetch — a slow or unreachable API delays or breaks robots.txt for crawlers
