…h MoltenVK 1. Time domain selection — replaced the hardcoded constant with a platform preference list, resolved at runtime against what the device actually reports. macOS/iOS now get CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW, which MoltenVK does support. I verified against the installed MoltenVK with a standalone probe: it advertises DEVICE + CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW, the CPU timestamps match clock_gettime(CLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAW) to within 42 ns (so GetQpcToNSecMultiplier() == 1 is correct), timestampPeriod is 1.0 ns, and calibration deviation is 0–958 ns — well inside the retry loop's bounds. Tracy's calibration path only consumes the nanosecond delta, so the profiling data is genuinely correct, not just non-crashing. 2. Query pool sizing — the pool asked for a fixed 32768 queries while its data buffer only holds frame_buffers_count × 1000 timestamps. That over-allocation exceeded Metal's 32 KB MTLCounterSampleBuffer limit, so MoltenVK printed an error per queue and silently fell back to emulated timestamps, defeating the point of a Profile build. Sizing the pool to the buffer's real capacity fixes it; the effective query limit is unchanged, since the data buffer was always the binding constraint.
…rgumentBinding MethaneParallelRenderingRootConstants aborted on an uncaught META_CHECK_EQUAL(native_buffers.size(), offsets.size()) at ProgramBindings.mm:457, thrown on a taskflow worker, rethrown by Executor::run(...).get() on the main thread, and escaping -[NSApplication run]. It was a data race on Metal::ProgramArgumentBinding's native resource vectors. SetMetalResourcesForViews cleared and refilled five vectors in place with no lock, while readers in ProgramBindings — which serialize only against each other via the ArgumentsBuffer::DataLock — read them from other threads. 07-ParallelRendering hits this hard: it builds 1727 program bindings on a taskflow (ParallelRenderingApp.cpp:235) and, in the RootConstants variant, rewrites every cube's root constant each frame on another (:413). Each root-constant buffer reallocation broadcasts OnRootConstantBufferChanged (RootConstantBuffer.cpp:236) so one thread rewrites every binding while the others are reading them. Scope correction The check only catches the buffers/offsets pair, but all five vectors plus m_mtl_resource_usage were rewritten in place and read concurrently. The others fail silently and worse — a reader can dereference a std::vector's storage while the writer reallocates it. So I snapshotted the whole set rather than just the pair the check happened to guard. That's a slightly wider change than the literal ask; the narrower fix would have left real UB behind. The fix An immutable NativeResourceViews snapshot published in one step. SetMetalResourcesForViews builds it entirely in a local shared_ptr, then swaps it in; readers take a strong reference and keep it alive for as long as they use it. The mutex is held only for the pointer copy, never while building or using the snapshot — so the parallel update loop isn't serialized. Removing the five old accessors forced every call site to be updated, so no silently-racy read remains. I also added an explicit copy constructor: CreateCopy() relied on the implicit one, which the mutex member would have deleted — and the copy is itself a cross-thread reader, so it takes the source snapshot under the source's lock.
…racking, introduced by commit 1184cff ("Fix command list set execution state tracking") The background execution-waiting thread does: 1. PopNextExecutingCommandListSet() // locks queue, pops front, waits on fence, Complete() 2. CompleteCommandListSetExecution() // locks queue again, pops front if it == the set just completed The set is already gone from the queue after the first call, so the second pop was meant to be a no-op. But between the two calls the queue mutex is released, and the main thread — which owns the same CommandListSet object for that frame buffer index — can come all the way around the frame ring and re-execute the very same object, pushing it back to the front. CompleteCommandListSetExecution then matched it by address and popped that new execution out of tracking. From there the failure is deterministic: the set is Executing but untracked, so WaitUntilCompleted(frame_index) finds nothing via IsExecutingOnFrameIndex() and returns without waiting, and the next Reset() on its command lists throws InvalidArgumentException<Rhi::CommandListState> — CommandList.cpp:98. Heavy CPU load widens the window: the background thread gets descheduled right after PopNextExecutingCommandListSet() returns, while the main thread runs a full 3-frame ring in well under a millisecond.
…e is small. Both offset and size are now a true intersection of [offset, offset + dimension_size) with [0, render_attachment_size), computed in int64_t and floored at zero. A block partly outside is clipped; a block fully outside gets a zero-size scissor.
cpp:S8417 — non-default memory ordering (8 issues) in Context.h and Context.cpp Dropped the explicit memory_order arguments on m_requested_action, falling back to default seq_cst. This is free here: on x86-64 and ARM64 a seq_cst load compiles identically to an acquire load, and lock cmpxchg is already a full barrier, so the hot path through RequestDeferredAction() is unchanged. Only the store() in CompleteInitialization() gains a fence on x86, and that runs once per initialization. cpp:S8379 — unprotected mutable field (4 issues) on m_is_completing_initialization Changed mutable bool → mutable std::atomic_bool. This one was a genuine race, not a false positive: the previous // NOSONAR claimed it was "only written by CompleteInitialization() on the render thread", but IsCompletingInitialization() is public IContext API and is read from Text.cpp:642 inside a font-atlas-update callback. Making it atomic fixes the rule and the underlying issue. cpp:S108 — empty compound statement (1 issue) Filled the CAS retry loop body in RequestDeferredAction() with a comment explaining that compare_exchange_weak() has already reloaded prev_action.

Pull request overview
This PR delivers the Methane Kit v0.8.2.1 hot-fix over v0.8.2. It targets concurrency correctness in parallel-rendering code paths, GPU timestamp queries on Apple/MoltenVK, window-resize edge cases, and silences remaining SonarQube findings — without changing the public API surface beyond making several single-argument constructors explicit.
Changes:
- Data-race hardening:
Base::Context(atomic deferred action + mutex-guarded command kits),Base::CommandKit(mutex +*Unlocked()helpers),Base::RenderPass(attachment-cache invalidation under the recursive mutex), andMetal::ProgramArgumentBinding(immutableNativeResourceViewssnapshot published under lock). - Correctness fixes:
CommandQueueTrackingno longer double-pops the executing queue;GetFrameScissorRectclamps in signed 64-bit to avoid unsigned underflow; VulkanTimestampQueryPoolpicks the first supported CPU time domain and sizes the pool to the data buffer for MoltenVK; window-resize guards inAppBase/Typography. - Housekeeping:
explicitconstructors,has_value()/EnumMaskreturn-value tidy-ups,NOSONARannotations, Tracy bump to0.14.1, version/doc/CI updates, and extended RenderPass unit tests (stencil attachment).

Summary
Methane Kit v0.8.2.1 is a hot-fix update of the v0.8.2 release, which fixes data races in the parallel rendering code paths, GPU timestamp queries on Apple platforms and window resizing edge cases, and silences the remaining SonarQube issues on Linux and MacOS:
Base::Context,Base::CommandKitandMetal::ProgramArgumentBinding, which are reachable fromSetData()andSetRootConstant()calls made on the parallel-rendering worker threads.Base::CommandQueueTrackingdropped a re-executed command list set out of tracking, making the followingReset()throw on theExecutingstate.Typographytutorial and is stopped after an initialization error.Graphics libraries
Base::Context: lazily created default command kits were guarded with a mutex;m_requested_actionandm_is_completing_initializationwere replaced with atomics, with the deferred action escalated by a compare-exchange loop and cleared only when performed.Base::CommandKit: lazily created command queue, lists, fences and list sets were guarded with a mutex, with the*Unlocked()helpers added for the nested access.Base::CommandQueueTracking:CompleteCommandListSetExecution()does not pop the executing queue any more, becausePopNextExecutingCommandListSet()already pops the command list set atomically with waiting for it.Base::RenderPass: stencil attachment texture is invalidated onUpdate()together with the other attachment texture caches, under the mutex guarding their initialization.GetFrameScissorRect()computes bounds in a signed 64-bit type and clamps them to the render attachment size, fixing the unsigned underflow of the offset and extent for a frame rect moved outside of the attachment.Rhi::TextureViewandRhi::CommandListSetconstructors were madeexplicit.Metal RHI
Metal::ProgramArgumentBindingnative resources were moved to the immutableNativeResourceViewssnapshot, which is built locally and published under the mutex, so thatMetal::ProgramBindingsreaders keep using the previous one until it is complete.Vulkan RHI
Vulkan::TimestampQueryPooltakes the first CPU time domain supported by the device from the platform preference list instead of one hard-coded domain, because MoltenVK exposesCLOCK_MONOTONIC_RAWonly.MTLCounterSampleBufferand fall back to emulated timestamps.Common changes
Tracy::GpuContextidentifier allocation.explicitsingle-argument constructors,EnumMask::SetBitOn/SetBitOffreturn value,has_value()checks) and silenced won't-fix ones withNOSONARcomments explaining the intentional recursive mutexes,condition_variable_anyandmutablecaches.Tutorial applications
Typographytutorial crash on resizing done before the text items were created byInit().AppBase::IsResizing()returnsfalseafter an initialization error, so that partially constructed application state is not resized.Tests
RenderPassunit-tests were extended to cover invalidation of the attachment texture caches on settings update, with a separate stencil attachment added to the test render pattern.External libraries
v0.14.1(hot-fix release), including the release binaries used in CI.
