171-191: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueFingerprint check covers sampled values, so some weight updates can still produce a stale cache hit.
The earlier no-grad concern is resolved.
trainable_weightnow usesinputs.requires_grad, which stays true undertorch.no_grad()for aParameter. The.dataupdate test also exercises this path.
_input_fingerprintis a lossy checksum, though. It combines the wrapping sum and squared sum of all bits with up to about 1024 sampled bit patterns. A version-bypassing optimizer step can change a few weights that fall outside the sample and keep both sums equal. This is rare, but the cache then reuses stale packed codes with no signal. For int16 weights (fp16/bf16), the wrapping sums are weaker still. Consider a stronger device-side reduction, such as a position-weighted sum or a hash over all elements. Alternatively, document the probabilistic nature of the check next to
_input_fingerprint.The check also runs
_input_fingerprint(inputs)andtorch.equalon every grad-enabled forward.torch.equalforces a device sync. The cost is small next to the dequantize step, but it is new per-step overhead.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

96-100: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚖️ Poor tradeoffTreat this as a residual collision risk, not a major defect.
For a 2,048-element tensor, swapping two unsampled values preserves the sample and both aggregate pairs.
_matching_cachecan therefore reuse the old packed payload for this constructed update. Thetorch.int16representation used for fp16 and bf16 also makes aggregate collisions more likely through wrapped products. The regression test uses an elementwise
.data.add_(0.01)update, which changes the fingerprint and repacks the weight. The repository contains no optimizer path that performs exact value swaps. This is optional hardening for a narrow, contrived case, not a major practical failure. Use a full-content comparison or a reliable update signal only if exact invalidation is required.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Type of change: Bug fix
Fixes #2857.
GGML fake quantization cached packed codes using the tensor version counter. Optimizers such as bitsandbytes 8-bit optimizers can update parameter storage without incrementing
Tensor._version, causing later QAT/QAD forwards to reuse stale quantized weights. This change adds a device-resident content fingerprint to GGML packed-weight cache entries. For trainable weights during grad-enabled execution, the fingerprint is checked before reusing cached codes. Version-bypassing updates therefore trigger a fresh encode, while the existing inference/PTQ cache fast path remains unchanged.
The cache match also preserves layout, shape, stride, dtype, device, and contiguous-view checks so export can continue reusing compatible cached payloads safely. GPTQ pinned payload behavior is unchanged.
Usage
No API changes are required.
Existing GGML QAT/QAD configurations now correctly observe parameter updates from optimizers that bypass PyTorch's version counter.
