A new page for the split NOR layout on GK7205V200, GK7205V300, GK7202V300 and GK7605V100. It's the user side of OpenIPC/linux#96, OpenIPC/u-boot#18 and #19, OpenIPC/firmware#2617 and #2621, and OpenIPC/defib#154.

The page covers:

  • the layout, and how the kernel's mtdsplit divides firmware at boot;
  • what it needs: the u-boot-<soc>-nor.bin bootloader and the -split package;
  • how to tell which layout a camera is on;
  • moving a camera over: the bootloader first, then sysupgrade -k -r;
  • how sysupgrade carries the settings across, what -n does, and what it refuses;
  • writing firmware.bin from U-Boot, and going back to fixed slots.

It's linked from the README (next to NAND flash layouts), install-goke.md and sysupgrade.md.

The console lines quoted come from the lab GK7205V200 and GK7205V300.

Caveats:

  • The -split packages appear in latest with the first nightly after #2621. Until then they're local builds only.
  • openipc.org install support isn't done yet, so the page doesn't mention it.

AI Description

• Explain the split NOR layout, supported SoCs, required bootloader, and firmware packages.
• Document migration, settings preservation, recovery, and returning to fixed slots.
• Link the guide from installation, upgrade, and wiki navigation pages.

High-Level Assessment

A dedicated guide linked from existing installation and upgrade pages keeps the migration procedure and its safety caveats together. Duplicating those steps across the existing pages would make them harder to keep consistent.
