Bypassing FEC crashes the system #29

Description

@MustBeArt

Building with BYPASS_FEC enabled (for debug purposes), the system crashes as soon as a frame is transmitted.

This occurs only when the system is receiving itself. RF Loopback in this case. With the RF loopback cable disconnected, the system can transmit just fine. Reconnecting the cable (while still transmitting frames) then crashes the system.

By "crashes the system" I mean that the serial console and all network interfaces stop working. There is a burst of junk on the serial console, then nothing and no response to keystrokes. SSH terminals just freeze and then timeout a few seconds after any keystroke.

The burst of junk on the serial console looks like this:
?8a,??.???"?lE*?V?aZ?"v#vJ?t?|??T?T??յ??????CA???$tG?YF????(?m?j?h??a b?-?-?i?*??????v(?n?n??*"P??z?(?km?*U?at?\Jp?v?z p??zN?,?????a(?%?\q.?+?m?m?-?m?+???.?h?o??????m?j?+??+x'?o??Gv5$|???r
?#?/^[ Xnp|?T?????kA%?p???h?,?jPfP?~?F~z~??t??(-!??F ?9t?3??5?N?@1.P
?%?=?|??\mLL?@????'2@?`

Looking at this junk at different baud rates didn't reveal anything meaningful.

Nothing unusual is noted in dmesg output, either before the crash or after recovery (by cycling power).

Yesterday I had to cycle power to recover. Today it is rebooting itself after a little while. I don't know what has changed.
