Two Epic Games Launcher problems seen in a Raven environment, traced to their owners. No Raven code change: neither is in Raven.

  • Sign-in lost at every start (invalid_dpop_proof). Wine's ncrypt.dll keeps a named CNG key only in the process that made it; NCryptOpenKey is a stub on Wine master as of October 2026. Measured in a throwaway env with Wine 11.20: CngKey.Create of a named P-256 key succeeds, CngKey.Open from a second process fails with 0x80090029. The base's ncrypt.dll loaded as native unloads before the first call.
  • Install Engine does nothing (EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles, found 0 entitled apps). The same lines were reported on Windows 11 with launcher 20.3.5 on Epic's forum, with a workaround that is recorded but not yet tried here.
  • EOS_SESSION_GUID environment variable is required. / exit 91 in EOS's logs comes from its update step. A probe service started through sc ran as S-1-5-21-0-0-0-1000, not LocalSystem; EOS's helper checks for LocalSystem and takes the path that needs the variable. The helper the launcher starts itself gets the variable and reaches MAINSERVICE_READY.

Docs only: docs/guide/troubleshooting.md (two sections) and a corpus row, plus updated "not yet contained" items for services and MSI.

The launcher loses its sign-in at every start because Wine's ncrypt keeps
no named CNG keys (NCryptOpenKey is a stub returning 0x80090029), and the
base's own ncrypt does not load under Wine 11.20. Install Engine doing
nothing is Epic's bug, reported with the same log lines on Windows 11.
The EOS_SESSION_GUID exit 91 in EOS's logs is its update step, which
fails because Wine runs services under the user's SID, not LocalSystem.
