Folder docs/video-series/03-sources. About four minutes. Assumes video 2.
A source is landing data: database tables, files, or JSON. The rows stay where they are.
The Data Catalog stores the contract for that feed: the name, the columns, and the keys. Later models bind to the feed name, not to a JDBC URL.
Retail feeds live under hop/retail-example/sources. Open one feed far enough to read the columns.
Import tables from the catalog perspective is the short path when every feed is one physical table.
This series draws a source model next, because Generate Data Vault needs the keys and the relationships. Push to catalog is how that model publishes. Show the published result here. The drawing is video 4.
