What needs to happen?

Video 9 — Dimensional model

Folder docs/video-series/09-dimensional-model. About four minutes. Assumes video 8.

• A dimensional model is facts and dimensions for reporting, loaded from the Business Vault, the raw vault, or both.
• Open retail-example/models/retail-f-orders.hdm. Show the fact, the role-playing dates, and a conformed dimension from retail-example/models/retail-conformed-dims.hdm.
• The group update loads every Data Vault model, then every Business Vault model, then every dimensional model. Add the .hdm to the same group, retail-sources.
• The semantic layer retail-example/models/retail-f-orders.hsl holds formats and a saved selection on that fact. Open one presentation page so the viewer sees a report. Do not teach the crosstab editor.
• The Kimball bus matrix is where that fact and dimension list is planned. Name it. Do not build one.
