This opens a PR for a commit @georgevreilly pushed to the fix/remove-pycon-refs branch on 2026-08-27. No PR was ever opened for it, so it went unnoticed until now.

What George changed

The docs still describe this repository as the website for "python.ie / pycon.ie". That is no longer true: the PyCon Ireland 2026 website lives in its own repository, PythonIreland/2026.pycon.ie. George's commit makes the docs say so:

  • README.md: the intro now says this is the Python Ireland (https://python.ie) website, managing content for the community (meetups and sponsors), and links to the separate PyCon Ireland 2026 repository.
  • CLAUDE.md: same wording in the "Project Overview" section, plus the missing newline at the end of the file.
  • DEVELOPMENT.md: the tagline now reads "Complete documentation for developers working on python.ie" (the "/ pycon.ie" part is removed).

Docs only, no code change.

What I changed on top

  • Rebased the branch onto the current master. It was 12 commits behind. George is still the commit author.
  • Resolved the two conflicts in README.md and CLAUDE.md by keeping George's wording with master's Wagtail version. His branch said "Wagtail CMS 7.2" and master has since moved to 7.3, so merging it as-is would have reverted that detail.

Thanks @georgevreilly! 🙏
