I'm an aspiring quant, and I wanted a simple way to practice arithmetic, you know to be quick on the feet. I got tired of websites charging a subscription for basic mental maths drills, so I vibe-coded my own (just a quick experiment, I do Code!).
It's a small, free, offline desktop app. Pick a topic, solve some questions, and see the worked solution when you get stuck. No account, ads, or premium tier.
Download QuantDrill.exe for Windows and double-click it. No installation or Python setup needed. The first launch can take a few seconds.
- 36 question families covering arithmetic, fractions, percentages, number sense, probability, expected value, and variance.
- Three difficulty levels, relaxed practice, and 2-, 5-, or 10-minute sprints.
- Worked solutions that explain the concept, show the steps, and then give the mental shortcut.
- A mistake review queue and progress saved on your computer.
Use Enter to submit or advance, Alt+H for the solution, and Alt+S to skip. Retries and revealed solutions stay separate from first-try results.
Use Read full solution for a larger reading window.
Python 3.11+ with Tkinter. No third-party runtime packages.
python app.pyThe packaged app targets Windows. See the practice guide for answer formats and saved progress.
Found a wrong answer, an unclear explanation, or a useful problem type? Open an issue or send a PR. I'd especially appreciate improvements to the question bank.
python -m unittest test_engine test_gui -vThe tests include 16,200 generated cases across all families and levels. To build the Windows EXE:
python -m pip install -r requirements-build.txt
python build.pyThe result is dist/QuantDrill.exe.
