What

+npc: GMs build opposition on a new object, Fate Opposition. An NPC is minor (one stress box, no consequences) or major (every track and consequence slot a player has). Its aspects, skills, stunts, stress boxes, consequence slots and package fields are all editable. NPCs belong to whoever made them until shared with /share. Keepers can edit any NPC. Each player may keep up to the npcs setting (default 50).

Running an encounter (+encounter/...):

  • /npc <name>[=<count>] brings copies into the encounter, numbered when there are several. /stats shows one copy in full.
  • /roll <npc>/<skill>[+n][=opp] rolls for an NPC where the room sees it.
  • /harm <name>[/<track>]=<shifts> follows Fate Condensed: each stress box takes one shift and a consequence takes its shifts. An NPC is taken out when what's left exceeds its empty consequences. A player is told what to mark, and taken out past their total.
  • /stress and /consequence change an NPC's stress and consequences. /out takes someone out or brings them back. /concede gives a player 1 fate point plus 1 per consequence taken in this encounter. A major NPC banks those points instead, and they go to the GM's pool the next time it's brought in.
  • /exchange and /act [<name>] handle turn order: whoever acts hands the turn on. The first exchange gives the GM one fate point per player.
  • /aspect, /boost, /invoke and /unaspect manage scene aspects. Free invokes are used first, then the player's copy pays, or the GM's pool for the GM.
  • /pool, /point and /victory (contests; three victories win).
  • +encounter shows the pool, the exchange, who is acting, the scene aspects, each player's status and an opposition table.
  • When the GM gives no encounter number, commands go to the encounter picked with /use, else the one the GM's play goes to, else the only one they run in the room. /use now accepts an encounter you run. /remove also removes NPCs. /end lists who ended up out.

Atomic Robo 1.1.0: NPCs get a scale, Weapon and Armor through the new NPCFIELD and NPCROLL/HIT/HARM` hooks:

  • +encounter/roll kaiju/fight=fair vs person counts scale the same way it does for machines.
  • Weapon adds to the NPC's hits, and Armor comes off the harm it takes.

Also fixes +sheet's machine section: it drew #-1 when a machine aspect contained |.

Help, wiki pages and READMEs are updated. Versions bumped: sheet-fate 1.3.0, atomic-robo 1.1.0, sheet-fate-wiki 1.1.0, atomic-robo-wiki 1.1.0.

Play-tested on a local server

  • GM who is also a player: built minor and major NPCs, ran three thugs and a major NPC through full exchanges, then harm, consequences, out, concede with banking, and banked points returning to the pool in the next encounter.
  • Players: joined, acted and handed turns on, placed aspects and boosts, used free and paid invokes, conceded with consequence points, and were told what to mark after harm.
  • Sheet keeper: used /use to act as GM in someone else's encounter and edited another player's NPC. A plain player was refused on both.
  • Shared NPC: another player used a shared NPC in their own encounter and was refused an unshared one.
  • Two encounters in one room: each GM's commands went to their own encounter.
  • Atomic Robo: tested a titan-scale NPC against a person and against a giant, Armor eating a hit and an unknown scale. An approved pilot's +machine/check also ran in the same fight.
  • PackageValidator --strict passes.

Generated by Claude Code

+npc builds NPCs (minor or major: aspects, skills, stunts, stress boxes,
consequence slots, package fields), each player's own until shared.
+encounter/npc copies them into an encounter, and the GM runs it with
/roll, /harm (stress then consequences, taken out past them), /stress,
/consequence, /out, /concede, /exchange and /act (turn order), scene
aspects and boosts with /invoke, the GM's pool, /point and contest
victories. A conceding major NPC banks fate points for its next fight.

atomic-robo 1.1.0 gives NPCs a scale, Weapon and Armor through the new
NPCFIELD and NPC hooks, and draws +sheet's machine section with a
separator a flaw cannot contain.
