The I/O bridge crashes on empty graphs, parallel edges, and simple NetworkX graphs. It also discards edge keys and reads the first edge’s attributes for every parallel edge.
Discover layers without visualization layouts, export each edge’s own key/data, and restore those keys on import. Repair the roundtrip test helper’s array comparison and keyed edge lookups so it can validate these exports.
Validation: 242 tests passed, 3 skipped across I/O, roundtrips, regressions, golden paths, empty networks, and null models.
CI caveat: existing workflows suppress pytest failures; the focused validation above was run directly.
