fix(aggregate): seed snapshot version from the restored snapshot - #113
A restored aggregate compared its version against 0 instead of the loaded snapshot, so it wrote a redundant full-state snapshot on the first command after every cold load.
AggregateStateBuilder.populate/1 restored the aggregate version and state from a snapshot but left snapshotting.snapshot_version at 0, so the first command after a cold load snapshotted whenever version >= snapshot_every.

Medium Risk
Changes aggregate cold-load snapshot bookkeeping, which affects when snapshots are persisted and could alter event-store write patterns after restarts.
Overview
After a cold load, aggregates restored from a snapshot kept snapshot_version at 0, so snapshot_required? treated every post-restore command as if no snapshot had been taken and could write an extra full-state snapshot on the first command (even when still inside snapshot_every).
AggregateStateBuilder.populate/2 now sets snapshotting.snapshot_version to the loaded snapshot’s source_version when a snapshot is applied, aligning the in-memory interval baseline with the event store.
A new snapshotting test covers restart → one event (snapshot unchanged at v10) → nine more events (new snapshot at v20).

When populate/2 loads a snapshot, it now sets snapshotting.snapshot_version to the snapshot’s source version. A test verifies that the next snapshot is written at version 20 after restoring version 10.

Summary
Restore snapshot version and verify snapshot timing lib/commanded/aggregates/aggregate_state_builder.ex, test/aggregates/snapshotting_test.exs
Snapshot loading now records the snapshot’s source version in snapshotting.snapshot_version. The test verifies that one event after restoring version 10 does not advance the snapshot, and that it advances after nine more events.
The change preserves the snapshot interval after restoration. Additional replay coverage would strengthen regression protection, but no blocking defect is established.

Explanation
The title names the fix and its scope: restored aggregates should take their snapshot version from the loaded snapshot. The changeset sets snapshotting.snapshot_version to the snapshot's source_version in aggregate_state_builder.ex and adds a snapshot-restoration test, so the title matches the main change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description states the bug: a restored aggregate compared its version against 0 rather than the loaded snapshot, which caused a redundant full-state snapshot on the first command after a cold load. It also links the cherry-picked upstream change and the issue it fixes, which relate to the aggregate state builder change.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #672 requires that restoring an aggregate from a snapshot also sets snapshotting.snapshot_version to the snapshot version. The reviewed head implements this. In lib/commanded/aggregates/aggregate_state_builder.ex, populate/2 sets snapshotting: %{snapshotting | snapshot_version: source_version} in the {:ok, %SnapshotData{}} branch, next to aggregate_version and aggregate_state. The snapshotting variable is bound from the state at the top of populate/2. The {:error, _} branch is unchanged, so snapshot_version stays 0 when no snapshot is loaded. Snapshot eligibility in Snapshotting.snapshot_required?/2 computes source_version - snapshot_version >= snapshot_every. With snapshot_every: 10 and a loaded v10 snapshot, one new event (v11) gives 11 - 10 = 1, which is below 10, so no snapshot is written. The next snapshot is written at v20, which matches the expected behavior. The PR summary also reports a test for this sequence (snapshotting_test.exs, +20 lines). The issue does not require a test, so that test does not change this result. No non-coding requirements exist in #672.

Explanation
The whole-PR diff against the merge base changes two files, according to the supplied summary. The lib/commanded/aggregates/aggregate_state_builder.ex diff (+2/-1) adds only the snapshotting: %{snapshotting | snapshot_version: source_version} field update inside the snapshot-load branch. This directly implements #672. The supporting test in test/aggregates/snapshotting_test.exs covers the restored-snapshot eligibility behavior described in #672. No unrelated refactoring, API changes, or unrelated code appears in the reviewed evidence. The co-author attribution and cherry-pick note in the PR description do not affect scope.

A rabbit checks the snapshot’s place, Then counts each event at a steady pace. One hop past ten does not renew, At twenty, a fresh snapshot comes through. The rabbit nibbles, pleased and bright.
Add a restore case that replays events after the snapshot.
The new timing test restores the snapshot with no later events. The snapshot version and the replayed version are both 10 in that case. A change that seeds snapshot_version from the final replayed version would pass this test. The suggested test replays five events after the snapshot. Under the current code, a snapshot is written at version 20. Under that regression, no snapshot is written at 20, so the assertion fails.
Add this test to the describe "restore snapshot" block:
