The bare .exe is gone

The release workflow published CipherBox.exe as a standalone asset alongside the archives, and the site linked straight at releases/latest/download/CipherBox.exe. A freshly downloaded, unsigned executable is exactly what browsers and antivirus engines flag hardest — and the zip of the same binary was already being built for every platform.

So the standalone staging, its checksum step and its artifact upload are removed from release.yml, and everything now points at cipherbox-windows-x64.zip. The release body explains the unzip step.

Site

  • download.html takes over the install section — links the archive, and says why the binary ships inside one.
  • setup.html takes over "How to use it", giving the guide the same name the other project sites use.
  • index.html keeps the hero and feature list and links out to both.
  • Nav: Download, Setup, Features, GitHub. Terms stay in the footer, as on every other site.
  • sitemap.xml lists the new pages.

Terms

terms.html covered licence, acceptable use, recovery, privacy, warranty and changes. It was missing scope, liability, third-party components, trademarks and contact — all five are added and the sections are numbered. Its nav and footer pointed at index.html#install and index.html#usage, which no longer exist; those are repointed.

The privacy section stays as it was: CipherBox has no server, no account and no telemetry, so there is nothing further to state.

Docs

README, QUICKSTART and GUIDE all handed out the direct .exe link. They now describe downloading the zip and running cipherbox.exe from it, with the certutil verification updated to hash the archive.

Verification

Link check over site/: 5 pages, no dead internal links or anchors, no pinned release assets, terms in every footer and absent from every nav. release.yml parses as YAML and no longer references standalone or CipherBox.exe anywhere. I did not run the PyInstaller build.

Generated by Claude Code

The release published a bare CipherBox.exe next to the archives and the site
linked straight to it. An unsigned executable downloaded directly is what
browsers and antivirus engines flag hardest, and the zip of the same binary was
already being built — so the bare .exe is dropped and everything points at
cipherbox-windows-x64.zip instead.

The site followed the same shape as the other projects' sites:

- download.html takes over the install section, now linking the archive and
  explaining why it is one
- setup.html takes over "How to use it", so the guide has a name that matches
  the other sites
- index.html keeps the hero and the feature list and links out to both
- the nav carries Download, Setup, Features and GitHub; Terms stay in the footer

terms.html was missing scope, liability, third-party components, trademarks and
contact. It now covers all of them, numbered, and the nav and footer links that
pointed at the moved sections are repointed.

README, QUICKSTART and GUIDE describe the unzip step.
