Render article images in the terminal.

  • Show the first image of an article as a lead image under the headline, and the other images inline at their place in the text, scaled to the column.
  • Use the kitty graphics protocol with unicode placeholders, so images scroll with the text. Detect support at start.
  • Without kitty graphics, draw half-block images or show [image: alt text]. Choose with image_fallback in ~/.config/syn/config.toml. images = "off" turns images off.
  • Download images only when they are on screen, and cache them in ~/.cache/syn/images. Limit size, type, and dimensions. Encode images outside the UI update.
  • syn article show prints [image: alt text] lines.

New dependencies: golang.org/x/image (WebP) and go-toml/v2 (config).

Local checks passed: tests with local sockets, race tests, vet, formatting, build, and terminal checks of all five image modes, including mouse-wheel scrolling.
