Problem / Motivation

Goal: Point Node.js users at AWS Lambda Web Functions from the README, and say when the Web Adapter is still the right choice.

AWS Lambda Web Functions launched for the Node.js runtime. Your code handles HTTP requests directly, so Node.js web apps no longer need an adapter. The README does not mention it.

Why it matters

A Node.js user who lands here today adopts the adapter without learning that a native option exists.

Not a goal

  • Changing the User Guide under docs/.
  • Deprecating the adapter or changing any code.

What changed

README.md gets a tip box right under the intro paragraph. It recommends Lambda Web Functions for new Node.js web apps and lists what it offers, as stated in the launch post. It tells users of other runtimes and container images to keep using Lambda Web Adapter until Lambda Web Functions supports them natively. It links to the developer guide and to the launch post for the region list.

Backwards compatibility

Compatible: documentation only.

Tests

None. Documentation only.

Manual verification

Checked that the developer guide link returns HTTP 200.

no linked issue: follows a product launch, no tracking issue.

Lambda Web Functions launched with Node.js support: code handles HTTP requests directly, with no adapter. Point Node.js users at it from the top of the README, and keep the Web Adapter for other runtimes and container images until Web Functions supports them natively.
