redirection_expandmay leave a side effect, butredirection_expandis already called inredirection_errorin another branch, so I decided not to care about it too much. If a side effect should be avoided,redirection_expandmay be replaced bysavestringto show the string before expansion. It would provide less information to the user, but it still works.
