The rust-build.action matrix (windows-gnu, linux-musl, apple-darwin) has not produced a successful build since 2022. It runs in a pinned Docker image whose Cargo cannot parse lock file v4, and cross-compiling GTK and libhdf5 from an Ubuntu runner is impractical. Releases are distributed as source via crates.io (`cargo publish`). GitHub releases still provide the tag, notes, and auto-generated source archives, none of which depend on this workflow.
