Firefox and Safari give a page no way to walk a folder chosen through the button, and on a large tree the person waits for the browser to list every file with nothing on the panel to say that a drop is faster. While that wait lasts, the panel now adds "A folder dropped on the page opens faster." Chrome and Edge never reach this panel, because their button already walks the folder.

Notes

  • The filter that runs on the browser's list stays as it is. On a tree of 459,219 files it takes under half a second after a listing of 53 to 86 seconds by the browser, and on 1,302,052 files Chrome never delivers the list to the page at all.

Firefox and Safari give a page no way to walk a folder chosen through the button, and on a large tree the person waits for the browser to list every file with nothing on the panel to say that a faster way in exists. While that wait lasts, the panel now adds that a folder dropped on the page opens faster, since a drop is the one way into the map that those browsers do not list in full beforehand. Chrome and Edge never reach this panel, because their button already walks the folder.
