Summary

Removes stale and historical material from the repo's markdown docs. Every doc that's left now describes the project as it is, in the present tense. Dated audits, feedback logs, merge receipts and finished plans are deleted. Their still-true facts move into the live docs first. Each deleted doc gets a row in docs/ARCHIVE-INDEX.md with the git show <commit>:<path> command that recovers it; that index is the only place commit hashes remain. Out of scope: v2/CHANGELOG.md, evidence/, experiments/, v2/vendor/ and the generated notices.

Deleted

Doc Where its live facts went
docs/WHERE-EVERYTHING-IS.md Nothing still needed (cross-project Gas Town shutdown index)
docs/INTEGRATION-MOBILE-MAIN-2026-10-17.md The remaining physical gates for desktop quit are now in v2/HANDOFF.md
docs/DEVICE-LOGS-2026-10-08.md Logs tab rules are now in v2/HANDOFF.md
docs/RELEASE-DECISION-2026-09-09.md Renamed to docs/DEVICE-TEST-SCRIPT.md; only the physical test script (D1–D9, A1–A10, M1–M8, staging build) is kept
v2/ADB-QUIT-HARDENING.md Quit/lease behavior and the pinned Tauri exit limits are now in v2/HANDOFF.md
v2/ATV-OPTIMIZER-ANDROID-PLAN.md v2/mobile/HANDOFF.md, BACKLOG.md and BILLING-COMMAND-MATRIX.md
v2/mobile/ARCHITECTURE-REVIEW.md v2/mobile/HANDOFF.md: don't rerun tauri android init, and CI never builds the APK
v2/mobile/FEATURES.md Nothing still needed
v2/mobile/CORRECTNESS-AUDIT-2026-09-05.md Nothing still needed (all findings fixed)
v2/mobile/FEEDBACK-UX-2026-09-07.md Saved-TV identity rules are now in v2/mobile/HANDOFF.md §3
v2/mobile/USER-FEEDBACK-2026-09-05.md The #105 description is now in v2/mobile/LIFECYCLE-EVIDENCE.md
v2/mobile/UNKNOWN-DIAGNOSTICS-UX.md Nothing still needed (shipped)
v2/mobile/TRANSPORT-LICENSING-RESEARCH.md The no-GPL transport rule and the reasons for it are now in v2/mobile/HANDOFF.md §2
v2/mobile/DEPENDENCY-REMEDIATION-20261016.md The open desktop cookie advisory is now in v2/HANDOFF.md
v2/mobile/RELEASE-POLISH.md The open checks are now in v2/mobile/BACKLOG.md
v2/mobile/RELEASE-POLISH-RECEIPTS.md Nothing still needed

Trimmed or rewritten

  • CLAUDE.md (AGENTS.md is a symlink to it): the in-flight section now matches the actual state. 2.3.0 is the latest release; 2.3.1 is prepared on main but untagged, with an Unreleased section above it. Also: test-script pointer, archive-index pointer, roadmap-marker list, 16 captured screens. The signing and update-key section is unchanged.
  • v2/HANDOFF.md: rewritten. The table of closed issues is replaced by the rationale each fix left behind.
  • docs/ARCHIVE-INDEX.md: new "Docs removed from the repository" table.
  • docs/FEATURES.md: scoped as the v1 catalog. Dropped the obsolete "spec for the v2 rewrite" rules and corrected the claim that v2 fetches app lists at runtime.
  • v2/ATVTOOLS-PARITY.md: the shipped roadmap is replaced by the remaining gaps (screen recording, mouse mode).
  • v2/REMOTE-LATENCY-PLAN.md: now a reference for how the scrcpy channel works. It keeps the hardware measurements and lifecycle rules and drops the phases, estimates and IPs.
  • v2/README.md, v2/screenshots/README.md, v2/src/fonts/README.md: small factual fixes.
  • v2/mobile/HANDOFF.md: rewritten as a present-tense handoff, about 490 lines down to 245.
  • v2/mobile/BACKLOG.md: rewritten as P0/P1/P2.
  • v2/mobile/README.md, RELEASE.md, LIFECYCLE-EVIDENCE.md, PAIRING-PLAN.md, FAST-REMOTE-PLAN.md, the billing and free-undo docs, EXPORT-DISCOVERABILITY.md, ANDROID-DEPENDENCIES.md, v2/tools/emulator/README.md: removed hashes, receipts and dated narration.

Kept on purpose, though they were candidates for deletion: LIFECYCLE-EVIDENCE.md (#105 is open), PAIRING-PLAN.md (pairing hasn't been verified on a device), FAST-REMOTE-PLAN.md (Phase 4 is open), EXPORT-DISCOVERABILITY.md (SAF export is pending), and the billing and free-undo plans (not built). docs/FEATURES.md stays because v2 code comments cite its section numbers.

Evidence

Docs only, nothing visual, so no screenshots or video. Tested at the head of this branch:

  • Every relative link and anchor in the 35 in-scope docs resolves. The one hit is a false positive inside inline code in PAIRING-PLAN.md.
  • Every git show target in docs/ARCHIVE-INDEX.md resolves.
  • git grep for each deleted filename finds nothing outside docs/ARCHIVE-INDEX.md and evidence/.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Delete the cross-project shutdown index, the mobile-main integration
receipt, the ADB quit hardening follow-on, the original Android app plan
and the Logs tab design note. Their still-true facts move into
v2/HANDOFF.md (quit and Logs rules, pairing, adb cwd and launcher
rationale) and the mobile handoff.

Rename the release decision packet to docs/DEVICE-TEST-SCRIPT.md and
keep only the physical test script. Rewrite v2/HANDOFF.md, the parity
table and the remote input notes in the present tense, drop shipped
roadmap items, and bring CLAUDE.md's in-flight section up to date.
docs/ARCHIVE-INDEX.md now lists every removed doc with the commit that
last held it.
Delete the architecture review, the old screen/command matrix, the
correctness audit, both feedback logs, the unknown-diagnostics UX
contract, the transport licensing research, the dependency remediation
receipt and the release-polish checklist and receipts. Their live facts
(the no-GPL transport rule and why, saved-TV identity rules, the
#105 description, open polish checks) move into HANDOFF, BACKLOG and
LIFECYCLE-EVIDENCE.

Rewrite HANDOFF.md as a present-tense current-state handoff and BACKLOG.md
as an ordered P0/P1/P2 queue. Trim commit hashes, dated checkpoints and
coordination vocabulary from the remaining plans, and correct stale
claims (notices coverage, the pubkey encoder fix, the desktop rename,
already-registered commands, component and CI facts).
