Change

Recent-search storage events now notify only listeners for the affected account and ignore unrelated keys. Clearing local storage still notifies all account listeners, and same-tab updates remain account-scoped.

Tests

The focused recent-search storage test passed, including subscription stability across renders and account-scoped updates. Type checks and lint passed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Recent-search lists now stay in sync when searches are added or cleared, or when browser storage changes. Changes for one account no longer trigger updates to another account’s list, while clearing browser storage refreshes all affected lists.

Walkthrough

Recent-search listeners are now grouped by user ID. Storage events and search updates notify listeners associated with the affected user. Tests cover event filtering, subscription reuse, storage clearing, and unsubscribe cleanup.

Changes: Recent-search subscriptions

Layer / File(s) Summary
User-scoped subscription and notifications
resources/js/hooks/use-recent-searches.ts, tests/Unit/RecentSearchesStorage.test.tsx
Subscriptions and update notifications are scoped to a user ID. Storage-clear events notify listeners across users. The hook memoizes its subscription callback by user ID, and tests verify event filtering and unsubscribe cleanup.

The new subscription test is not run in CI and misses two notification cases, leaving regressions harder to detect.

Nitpick Add an independent same-account listener before testing unsubscribe.

80-109: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Add an independent same-account listener before testing unsubscribe.

The first listener no longer receives the rememberSearch notification after it is unsubscribed, so the expected notification counts remain [2, 2]. Retain and invoke the second subscription's cleanup.

Suggested fix
+    const secondUserANotification = vi.fn();
+    const unsubscribeSecondUserA = subscriptions[0](
+        secondUserANotification,
+    );
+    unsubscribers.splice(0, 1).forEach((unsubscribe) => unsubscribe());

     rememberSearch('user-a', 'term');

         notifications.map(({ mock }) => mock.calls.length),
-        [3, 2],
+        [2, 2],
     );
+    assert.equal(secondUserANotification.mock.calls.length, 1);

     unsubscribers.splice(0).forEach((unsubscribe) => unsubscribe());
+    unsubscribeSecondUserA();
     assert.equal(handlers.size, 0);

Review comment at @tests/Unit/RecentSearchesStorage.test.tsx around lines 80 -
109:
In the listener cleanup test, add an independent listener for user-a through the
existing subscription, then unsubscribe the original listener before calling
rememberSearch. Expect the original notification counts to remain [2, 2], verify
the new listener receives the notification, and invoke its cleanup so
handlers.size is still zero.
Nitpick Test account-scoped notifications from clearRecentSearches.

80-109: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Test account-scoped notifications from clearRecentSearches.

The multi-user test covers a storage event with a null key, but it does not call clearRecentSearches. Add that call and assert that only the cleared account's notification count increases.

Suggested fix

+    const { clearRecentSearches, rememberSearch, useRecentSearches } =
         await import('../../resources/js/hooks/use-recent-searches');

+        notifications.map(({ mock }) => mock.calls.length),
+        [4, 2],

109:
Extend the multi-user notification test to import and call clearRecentSearches
for one account, then assert that only that account’s notification count
increases. Preserve the existing storage-event and rememberSearch assertions.
