I grew up watching Star Trek. My home automation is like the star ship Enterprise: I don't want to control my home from my lazy chair, I want my home to control itself. Set and forget. The lights and music follow me through my home. Blinds and curtains close automatically on sunset, when I switch on the TV, and to block the direct sun light when it gets too hot. Fans turn on when it gets too warm in the room I'm in.
I also watched 2001: A Space Odyssey. My home automation has manual overrides, in case the automation fails or turns against me.
