Why
Appium can hang on Xcode 27 when macOS blocks its Device Hub settings update.
How
Prefix Appium with the prepared Full Disk Access helper from expo/turtle-v2#2642 when it exists on macOS. Keep
spawnDetachedand its cleanup. Older images and Linux start Appium directly.Test Plan
Codex tested compiled
spawnDetachedwith the helper in rebooted Tart. Appium got FDA while the worker stayed unapproved. WebDriver sessions, screenshots, navigation, recording retrieval, idle/resume, and shutdown passed. This QA predates the helper's latest startup shutdown fix in expo/turtle-v2#2642; that fix passed separate local process tests.CI passed on Node 22 and 24, including typecheck. Full hosted workflow testing remains pending.
Authorship and LLM use
Gabe requested the small prefix and reviewed the final changes. Sol simplified build-tools; Codex implemented and tested the helper. Multiple adversarial reviews included Astra and Opus, and Codex tested Appium sessions, screenshots, navigation, recording, idle/resume, and shutdown in a local Tart VM.
