Summary

Outbound calls page (agents/telephony/outbound-calls.mdx):

  • New section Calls before your team has paid. Until then, purchased numbers can only call numbers the team has verified.
    • Paid means: bought API credit at least once, a paid subscription, or an invoice contract.
    • Free credit and trials do not count.
    • Imported BYO numbers are not restricted.
  • Verify a number: console steps.
    • Call an unverified number from Phone > Outbound calls. A window asks you to verify it.
    • Get the code by text message or phone call. For a phone call, press a key when asked.
    • After the code is accepted, the call is placed again.
    • The window also links to adding credits or subscribing.
    • Sending a code needs reCAPTCHA, so codes are requested in the console, not with an API key.
  • Rules: code valid for 10 minutes, five wrong codes cancel it, rate limits, up to 10 verified numbers per team, platform numbers cannot be verified.
  • Manage verified numbers: list and delete over the API, third_party_calls_allowed.
  • A table of verification errors, including recaptcha_failed, recaptcha_unavailable and self_call_blocked.
  • The phone-call Errors table gets 403 outbound_requires_credit.

Notes

  • The API reference pages come from the OpenAPI schema. The verified-phone-numbers endpoints will get their reference pages once they are in the published schema.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified when calls from purchased numbers are restricted to verified destinations, what qualifies a team as paid, and which numbers are exempt.
    • Documented phone verification by text message or call, including code expiration, retry and rate limits, and the 10-number team limit.
    • Added instructions for listing and removing verified numbers, and details on response fields, verification errors, and the outbound_requires_credit call error.

…ing credit

Explain that purchased numbers can only call verified numbers until the
team adds API credit, how to verify a number in the console or over the
API, and the new outbound_requires_credit error.

The guide briefly overstates which destinations become callable after payment. Qualifying that sentence would prevent confusion; the remaining risk is low and does not block merging.

Teams that have paid (bought API credit once, a paid subscription, or an
invoice contract) can call any allowed destination. Until then, numbers are
verified from the call window on the Outbound calls page. Sending a code
needs reCAPTCHA, so the API section keeps list and delete only. Adds the
recaptcha and self_call_blocked verification errors.

Limit "any number" to allowed destinations.

Line 165 says that after adding credit or subscribing, you can call "any number" without verifying it. Lines 123, 127, and 142 limit paid calls to allowed destinations, and premium-rate, toll-free, and platform numbers are refused. Change the sentence so it does not promise calls the page refuses elsewhere.
