Part of fizzyedit/work#637
Rework: work#707

In plain words

This adds stronger checks that items keep moving smoothly while a newly added item is measured. The checks cover both position and size, and confirm movement changes destination once measurement finishes.

What you will notice

Nothing visible: internal test coverage only.

How this serves fizzy

Principle: evidence over opinion (VISION 7); adds evidence that the measurement hold preserves smooth movement across position and size.

Goal

PR title: core: test the rearrange measurement hold on all rect lanes

Address PM RULING items 1 and 2 for PR #997. Part of fizzyedit/work#707; test-only follow-up to work#637.

What changed and why

Fold the duplicate rectangle-lane test into the existing measurement-hold test. Assert x/y/w/h while moving, the complete held target, and the pending target taking effect after measurement. Production code is unchanged.

How it was verified

All 16 standalone rearrange tests pass. Disabling the measurement hold in a scratch copy makes the consolidated test fail. Gate results are recorded in GATES.md; cached steps are included in the build summaries.

Not done / follow-ups

The harness must set the PR title to the exact title above, publish this revised description, and post one FIXES comment on work#700 using FIXES.md and the resulting commit. This sandbox has no network or publishing credentials; no commits, pushes, ready marking, or merge performed.

TRIAGE @b51ed7dd auto: mechanical rules met (fizzy-* app author, names work#637, 36 non-test lines <= 400, no risky path). Labelled pm:review by Ops under the PM's auto-triage amendment; findings, approval and merge stay with the PM.

PM note: how this PR will be handled

What it is for: linux: work-637
Issue #637: core: Rearrange, the pure keyed set behind layout-to-layout motion (R1)

Rules that apply: none special.
Reviews needed: 1, from any other team or kind.
Needs the maintainer's explicit yes before merge: no

Things to watch (checked by rule):

  • the body names its work issue (Part of fizzyedit/work#N)
  • size within 800 lines outside tests and docs (36)
  • a gates section with what was run

What happens next:

  1. Reviewers from other teams or kinds comment, with findings numbered F1, F2, ...
  2. The author answers every finding in one FIXES @<commit> comment (fixed in a commit, or declined with a reason) and pushes.
  3. Reviewers re-review the new commit on their own.
  4. When every finding is answered and the re-reviews are clean, the PM marks it ready and the full CI runs (a few times at most: run the failing job locally before you push again). Only when CI passes does the PM look, and the PM gives the final okay.

A living status comment below is kept current. Nothing here is a merge decision.

Where this PR stands

Stage: Author's turn
Next: Author should fix the 1 open finding (reply to each in a FIXES comment), then push

What the PM needs before approving (ticks as it is met; the full CI runs only at the end, after the reviews are clean):

  • The body names its basis (Part of fizzyedit/work#N or a plan step)
  • Within the size limit: 25 of 800 lines outside tests and docs
  • The body shows which gates the author ran
  • No open findings at this commit (1 open)
  • Every earlier finding was answered in a FIXES comment (3 answered)
  • Clean reviews at this commit from 1 kind: windows/claude (has 1)
  • Marked ready, which starts the full CI (the PM does this the moment the items above are met)
  • The full CI passes at this commit
  • The PM's final okay (pm-approval)

Reviews at the current commit (6eb9d94):

Reviewer Verdict Findings
windows/claude clean 2
windows/codex changes 1

2 earlier reviews are for older commits and will be redone.
