feat: execute and verify core.bytes.count - #929
Conversation
Edict's count prelude (edict#269) lowers to core.bytes.count<OperandType> (bytes, b"x"). The native pure interpreter now counts raw bytes, including NUL, 0xFF and invalid UTF-8, charging one work unit per actual byte. The parser, the native helper checker, the lowerer and the verifier each check the needle structurally as a Core byte constant of exactly one byte, and require the exact operand coordinate, on both the source-function and the bounded-read routes. Every addition proof bounds a count by its operand's structural byte maximum, and an unsigned let binding now carries its proven bound to later bindings and the result of the same body. Bounds still do not cross helper results or record fields. Jim's lineCount = lineBreaks + 1 is proven. Refs flyingrobots/edict#269

Ty::Bytes(_, max) bound from Judgment::ty rather than reparsing raw coordinates
with bytes_max, so named byte coordinates retain their declared maximum during
overflow proofs. Ensure core.bytes.count handling uses that resolved bound, and
add a regression test covering a named Bytes coordinate.

types.resolve(string(coordinate)?, depth + 1)? and derive the ceiling from
Schema::Blob { high, .. }, including named Bytes coordinates such as
jedit.text@1.FactBytes. Remove the bytes_max fallback from this path, and apply
the corresponding lowerer change so both implementations produce the same
structural maximum.
Review comments at @docs/topics/GeneratedRules.md:
- Around line 142-149: Update the GeneratedRules documentation to limit the
structural byte-maximum claim for core.bytes.count<OperandType> to literal
Bytes<...> coordinates. Clarify that named byte types are resolved only by the
native helper checker, while the lowerer and verifier fall back to the full
width maximum.

Promotes the byte-identical G4 candidates from run 39540069152: lowerer sha256:451f5245 (488,398 bytes) and verifier sha256:d8941de6 (507,122 bytes). Clippy's items-after-test-module and redundant-clone lints flagged the new count_needle helper and one count test. Refs flyingrobots/edict#269
The lowerer and verifier addition proofs read a count's bound by parsing a literal Bytes<...> coordinate, so a named operand type such as jedit.text@1.FactBytes fell back to the full U64 width and count + 1 was refused, while the native helper checker accepted it. Both now resolve the coordinate through the module's type table: the lowerer resolves every counted operand an addition can reach before the proof, and the verifier resolves inline. Named and literal operands give the same bound.

receipt_correlations_for_current_basis is called only by the trusted runtime host that native_rule_bootstrap enables, so trusted_runtime builds without it warned that the method is never used. Gate it on both features, as on #921.

@codex review please, focus on the named byte type resolution in the lowerer and verifier count bounds (counted_coordinates + self.ty pre-resolution vs types.resolve inline), that a coordinate missing from the resolved table refuses rather than widening, and the promoted component digests |

… caps A Core with no source functions and no addition skipped the source judgment, so a core.bytes.count read guard was admitted without its scan being charged against the step ceiling. Both providers now run the judgment whenever an intent calls core.bytes.count as well as core.integer.add. A let binding whose value is an addition recomputed the count maxima and the full bound after the addition proof had already established them, debiting the work budget twice. The proof now returns the refined cap, equal to what the binding would compute, and the binding reuses it.

@codex review please, focus on the judgment gating for core.bytes.count without a function table, the cached addition cap reused by record_bound (must equal ceiling/ceiling_of exactly), and the promoted component digests |

Brings in count (#929) and proven-range slice and subtraction (#931). edict_pure::infer and check_predicate keep #921's crate visibility and take main's proof parameter; the effect instruction relation passes Proof::none(), so runtime slices and subtractions in effect programs still need literal operands until effect programs carry their proofs. Provider components and goldens take main's set until re-promotion.
