  • Every job gets a time limit (check and unit test 30 min, integration test 50 min). Before, a hung test (txn_cleanup_2pc_locks can hang) or a cluster that never started held a runner for GitHub's 6-hour default.
  • The cluster start gets its own 10-minute limit, and the integration test step 30 minutes. That's a step limit, not only a job limit: when a step runs out of time it counts as failed, so the log upload still runs. A job timeout would cancel the job and skip the upload. nextest already kills a single test after 10 minutes, so 30 minutes leaves room for a cold compile.
  • The two matrix jobs upload logs as cluster-logs-<case>. upload-artifact@v4 refuses a second artifact with the same name, so when both jobs failed, one job's logs were lost.

arduino/setup-protoc@v1 is outdated but left as is: newer versions name protoc versions differently, and check fails if the generated code changes.

No job had a timeout, so a hung test (txn_cleanup_2pc_locks can hang) or a
cluster that never starts held a runner for GitHub's 6-hour default. Both
integration-test jobs uploaded logs as cluster-logs; upload-artifact@v4
refuses a second artifact of the same name, so when both failed one job's
logs were lost.
