VidXP currently combines search hits whenever their time ranges touch or overlap. Because that combining repeats, a chain of nearby hits can turn several separate appearances or events into one long result.
This can give users a clip containing unrelated footage, misleading start/end times, or an incorrect count of appearances.
What should change:
- Nearby duplicate hits can still be combined.
- One bridging hit must not join two otherwise separate moments.
- Returned start/end times should stay close to the event or appearance that matched.
- Searches for all appearances should return separate useful occurrences instead of one broad range.
- Keep the original hits available so a result can still be inspected and explained.
- Add a regression case where A overlaps B and B overlaps C, but A and C belong to separate moments.
Start with a simple bounded rule and compare alternatives using #76. Coordinate with #83 because clip-level indexing will introduce better source time ranges.
