Summary

  • Add libwebp-dev to the RStudio recipe, the last item outstanding from Dane/update/cromwell and other important stuff #168. Needed by R imaging packages that link WebP. Same package name on every Ubuntu release built here.
  • Add RStudio 2026.09.0-174 with R 4.6.1 on noble. Newest RStudio Server release; the .deb is published under Posit's jammy path for Ubuntu 22 and 24, verified live. R 4.6.1 is still the current CRAN release, so no R bump.
  • Make the SSH jump host configurable. The RStudio and PopGen recipes printed slurm.ilifu.ac.za in their connection instructions; it is now login_host in group_vars/all, defaulting to that host and overridable with -e or in the inventory.

Test plan

  • uv run yamllint . and uv run ansible-lint (production profile) pass
  • ansible-playbook site.yaml --syntax-check passes
  • rstudio-server-2026.09.0-174-amd64.deb returns 200 from download2.rstudio.org
  • On prod: ansible-playbook site.yaml -t RStudio,RStudio2026.09.0-174-R4.6.1, then launch and confirm library(magick) or ragg loads

Needed by R imaging packages that link WebP (ragg, magick). Ported from
PR #168; the package name is the same on every Ubuntu release built here.

The RStudio and PopGen recipes printed slurm.ilifu.ac.za in their
connection instructions. Move it to a login_host var in group_vars/all,
defaulting to that host, so another site or a test deployment can
override it with -e or in the inventory.
