Claude Code (v2.1.281 or later) and Codex both load AGENTS.md as the project instructions, so the pointer file is no longer needed. - AGENTS.md: an opening paragraph says it is the single operational entry point for every coding agent, and that a CLAUDE.md, .claude/CLAUDE.md or CLAUDE.local.md in the repository or a directory above it would make Claude Code read that file instead; CLAUDE.md leaves /ship's documentation roots. - README.md: Codex and Claude Code load AGENTS.md; the CLAUDE.md sentence goes. - .gitignore: the CLAUDE.md exception goes.

Summary
The owner asked (2026-10-22): merge CLAUDE.md into AGENTS.md and delete it ("CLAUDE.mdの内容をAGENTS.mdにマージして削除して"). Claude Code and Codex both load AGENTS.md as the project instructions, so the pointer file is no longer needed, and a CLAUDE.md in the repository would make Claude Code read it instead of AGENTS.md.
CLAUDE.md,.claude/CLAUDE.mdorCLAUDE.local.mdin the repository or a directory above it would make Claude Code read that file instead. CLAUDE.md leaves/ship's documentation roots.!/CLAUDE.mdexception goes. With the user-global ignore rule, a local CLAUDE.md now stays untracked, as intended.No other tracked file names CLAUDE.md (
git grep). The change was made in the owner's session and moved here unchanged, so that Cycle 0049's PR-B1 checkout stays clean (Issue #107, Owner decisions D24).Observed in a Claude Code session on 2026-10-22 with this change in the working tree and no CLAUDE.md in the repository: the session loaded the repository's AGENTS.md as its project instructions.
