Description

@ashleyshaw

Outcome

Connect approved video Markdown to reachable archives/details and consistent playback.

Verified context

Legacy video views and a real VideoPlayer.tsx already exist, but video routes are unregistered. Existing editorial/media verification is #47.

Scope

Coordinate V1–V3, reusing playback rather than creating a new player from scratch.

Acceptance criteria

  • Metadata and notes come from approved Markdown.
  • Archive, detail and taxonomy views share one eligible collection.
  • Existing playback handles approved sources and truthful unavailable states.
  • Image, duration, platform and optional accessibility/series mappings are explicit.

Boundaries and sources

Creation defines work only; it does not start implementation. Preserve unrelated code, protected assets, editorial wording and existing records. Do not fabricate content, identity, media, manuscript chapters, dates or engagement data. Use approved repository-native authoring, validation, preview and publication decisions; do not provision an external CMS or database. Existing editorial verification remains with its current issues. All acceptance criteria remain unchecked until evidenced.

Repository evidence was inspected on develop at 4ecdb26d9655a48bf000a7c89da2f70383edce87. Recheck before implementation; no build or browser tests were run for this draft. Follow repository instructions and applicable Spec Kit requirements. Paths below refer to this repository.

Unanswered clarification questions

These questions clarify the existing video outcome while preserving player reuse and separate editorial and media-sourcing ownership.

  1. Which Markdown entries and genuine video sources are approved for publication?
  2. What source-to-route and taxonomy mappings define the shared eligible video collection?
  3. Which providers or URL formats are supported by the existing player, and how should missing or unsupported sources appear?
  4. Which image, duration, platform, accessibility and series fields are required, and how should missing values render?
  5. What publication rules govern video eligibility across archive, detail and taxonomy views?
