In this project, the real cause of the crash was a known pygame 2.6.1 bug on Windows: pygame.font.SysFont() enumerates system fonts from the Windows registry, and a non-string registry entry makes os.path.splitext throw TypeError: expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not int. This has already been fixed in source/component/menubar.py by wrapping the SysFont call in a try/except that falls back to pygame.font.Font(None, 22), which uses pygame's built-in font and skips registry enumeration entirely.
