fix(utils): preserve trailing '#' in markdown content title without preceding whitespace - #12843
In CommonMark Specification (§4.2 - ATX headings), an optional closing sequence consists of trailing # characters preceded by at least one space or tab. If a trailing # is not preceded by whitespace (such as in programming language names like C# or F#), it is part of the heading text content rather than a closing delimiter.
Markdown page titles now preserve meaningful trailing hash characters, such as in C# and F#, while excluding space-separated closing heading markers and anchor IDs.
Headings with anchor IDs and closing markers are handled together when extracting titles. Hash-only headings produce an empty title, and multiple trailing hashes without a preceding space remain part of the title.

parseMarkdownContentTitle now preserves trailing hash characters that are not separated from title text by whitespace. Tests cover this behavior, custom heading IDs, closing markers, and hash-only headings.
Changes: Markdown heading title parsing
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Heading title cleanup and tests packages/docusaurus-utils/src/markdownUtils.ts, packages/docusaurus-utils/src/__tests__/markdownUtils.test.ts
The parser removes trailing heading markers only when they start the title or follow whitespace. Custom heading IDs remain removable with optional preceding whitespace. Tests cover titles ending in C# or F#, anchors, closing markers, and hash-only headings.
The PR’s main parsing change is low risk. Two minor pre-existing edge cases remain documented for correction but do not represent newly introduced merge risk.

Explanation
[#12644] requires # Learn C# to produce Learn C# when front matter has no title. parseMarkdownContentTitle now removes a trailing hash sequence only when it starts the title or follows whitespace. The new test asserts contentTitle: 'Learn C#' for # Learn C# and contentTitle: 'F#' for # F#. parseMarkdownFile returns this parsed value as contentTitle for downstream metadata consumers.

Keep ## in the inferred title when a custom ID follows it.
The two-step replacement removes the ## from # Learn C# ## {#learn-csharp}. CommonMark keeps that ## as heading text, so the rendered heading reads Learn C# ##. The inferred title becomes Learn C#, and the browser title, sidebar label, and pagination label use that value. Match the custom ID and the closing hashes in one pattern. Update the test expectation at markdownUtils.test.ts:514 to 'Learn C# ##'.

…receding whitespace
In CommonMark (§4.2), an ATX heading closing sequence consists of trailing '#'
characters preceded by at least one space or tab. Previously, parseMarkdownContentTitle
used a regex with optional preceding whitespace ('\s*'), which stripped
meaningful trailing '#' characters from titles like '# Learn C#' or '# F#',
turning them into 'Learn C' or 'F'.
Separating custom anchor ID stripping from ATX closing sequence stripping,
and using '(?:^|\s+)#+$', ensures trailing '#' characters without preceding
whitespace are preserved, while valid ATX closing hashes and empty headings
(e.g. '# #') continue to be correctly stripped.

Limit closing-marker whitespace to spaces and tabs.
For # Learn C\u00a0#, \s+ matches the non-breaking space and removes the final #. CommonMark treats that hash as title text because the preceding character is neither a space nor a tab. (spec.commonmark.org)
This case also failed before this change. Use [ \t]+ for the closing-marker separator.

Remove an ID after removing a closing sequence.
For # Learn C# {#learn-csharp} #, the alternation removes only the closing #. The inferred title remains Learn C# {#learn-csharp}, although heading ID processing removes the ID from the rendered heading. (spec.commonmark.org)
This case also failed before this change. Remove a closing sequence first, then remove a trailing ID. Preserve hashes that precede an ID, as the new test requires.
