Summary

Fixes two defects found by the real-desktop proof of the Vercel AI Gateway personal budget (#961, see W:\mac-parity\rig\cua-p080-main\proof-961.md).

  • Team ID can be saved for Vercel (V3). workspace_provider() in apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/src/commands/provider_settings.rs had no Vercel arm, so set_provider_workspace_id("vercel", ...) failed with Provider 'vercel' does not expose a workspace/project id, and get_provider_workspace_id("vercel") stayed null. Added "vercel" => ProviderId::Vercel. The existing validate_provider_workspace_value Vercel arm already accepts team IDs and slugs (is_team_id: ASCII alphanumerics, _, -, at most 128 bytes), so no validator change was needed. The saved value is read by fetch_context_builder into FetchContext.workspace_id, which the budget path uses before VERCEL_TEAM_ID. Upstream 0.79 ProviderCredentialEnvironmentProjection for the workspace ID uses .config precedence by default, so the saved value also overrides the environment there.
  • A bad access token no longer reads as a role problem (V9). GET https://api.vercel.com/v2/user returns 403 for a bogus bearer. That 403 was mapped to "the token's user needs a non-Contributor role on this team to read budgets". Now a 401 or 403 on /v2/user reads as Vercel rejected the access token. Check or replace it in Settings. The budget list keeps the role message for 403, because a valid token without a budget-reading role gets 403 there. 401, 429, 5xx and 400 keep their existing messages on both endpoints. Response bodies are still never echoed.

Behavior that does not change:

  • Team ID precedence: the saved Settings value wins, VERCEL_TEAM_ID is the fallback, a blank value counts as unset (same as before).
  • Access token stays in the DPAPI-protected settings slot; it is still sent only to api.vercel.com, and the AI Gateway key only to ai-gateway.vercel.sh.
  • Without an access token, the team-credits path (/v1/credits) is unchanged.

Windows differences from upstream 0.79:

  • Upstream's vercel-budget.js maps 403 to permissionDenied("Vercel API returned HTTP 403.") on every read, including /v2/user. This port splits the two endpoints (see V9 above) so the user lookup reports the token problem. The role message stays on the budget list, where it applies.
  • The Team ID field was already rendered for Vercel by OpenAiExtras.tsx; no UI logic changed. The Settings save goes through the existing setProviderWorkspaceId bridge command.

Files changed

  • apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/src/commands/provider_settings.rs: workspace_provider Vercel arm; test maps_vercel_team_provider_and_validates_its_team_id.
  • apps/desktop-tauri/src/surfaces/settings/providers/sections/credentials/OpenAiExtras.test.tsx: test renders the Team ID field for Vercel and saves it through the workspace command.
  • rust/src/providers/vercel/budget.rs: Endpoint enum (CurrentUser, Budgets); status_error takes the endpoint; get_budget_json takes the endpoint.
  • rust/src/providers/vercel/budget_tests.rs: user_endpoint_401_or_403_reads_as_a_rejected_token, user_endpoint_other_failures_map_to_fixed_messages, and budget_list_failures_map_to_fixed_messages_without_the_body (replaces http_failures_map_to_fixed_messages_without_the_body). All use the local 127.0.0.1 scripted server already used by the module.
  • docs/PROVIDERS.md: Vercel section; per-endpoint status handling.

  • cargo test --manifest-path apps/desktop-tauri/src-tauri/Cargo.toml: 757 passed, 0 failed (focused maps_vercel: 1 passed)
  • pnpm exec tsc --noEmit: ok
  • pnpm exec vitest run (OpenAiExtras.test.tsx: 6 passed): 158 files, 1521 tests passed
  • pnpm proof:check -- --only settings-vercel-budget: PASS (Chromium, mocked IPC)
  • pnpm proof:check -- --only flyout-vercel-budget: PASS (Chromium, mocked IPC)

The browser proof does not exercise the Team ID save path (the mock IPC returns fixed values). That path is covered by the Vitest test above and the Rust command test; the desktop rerun below covers it end to end.

CUA desktop rerun (required; not run in this lane)

Build a fresh debug desktop binary from this branch (pnpm --dir apps/desktop-tauri run tauri:build:debug), close any running CodexBar, launch in proof mode (CODEXBAR_PROOF_MODE=settings:providers:vercel or the Vercel pane route), and use an isolated home. Do not set VERCEL_TEAM_ID or VERCEL_ACCESS_TOKEN in the environment for these assertions. Use synthetic values only (for example token proof-synthetic-token-p080 and Team ID proof_team_p080).

Assert:

  1. V3, save: type proof_team_p080 into the Vercel team Team ID field and click its Save. The error line does not expose a workspace/project id must not appear. get_provider_workspace_id("vercel") (through CDP invoke) returns proof_team_p080. Relaunch the app: the field still shows proof_team_p080.
  2. V3, validation: type bad team and save. The field shows the Vercel Team ID invalid error, and get_provider_workspace_id("vercel") still returns the previous value.
  3. V3, budget path: with the saved Team ID and no VERCEL_TEAM_ID, save a synthetic token and refresh Vercel. The card must not show Set the Vercel Team ID in Settings or VERCEL_TEAM_ID. The request reaches api.vercel.com (use the mock as in proof-961, or observe the error text).
  4. V9: with a bogus token (proof-synthetic-token-p080) and a valid saved Team ID, refresh. The card detail must read Vercel rejected the access token, and must not contain non-Contributor role. Record the HTTP status shown, if any.
  5. Regression, team credits: remove the token; the card returns to the team-credits path (AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY message), with no Team ID or role text.
  6. Pixels: verify_state for the Settings window (exists, bounds), get_window_state with --screenshot-out-file before and after save, and after refresh. Confirm the window is not dark-broken under auto, and that focus did not move (cua-driver background only).

Not covered by this rerun: tray icon and tray menu pixels; real Vercel 403 for a valid token without a budget role (no such account in this lane); pagination against the real API.

Factory Agent added 2 commits October 21, 2026 16:17
workspace_provider() had no Vercel arm, so set_provider_workspace_id rejected the Settings Team ID with 'does not expose a workspace/project id'. Map vercel to ProviderId::Vercel; the existing Team ID validator already accepts team ids and slugs. Add command-level and OpenAiExtras tests.
A bogus access token gets 403 from /v2/user, which mapped to the non-Contributor role message. Map 401 and 403 on the user lookup to the rejected-token message. Keep the role message for 403 on the budget list, where a valid token without a budget-reading role gets it. Tests cover both endpoints with a local mock; docs describe the per-endpoint mapping.

Full details: Provider Data Stays Siloed

Explanation

The pull request adds only Vercel-specific workspace mapping, Vercel endpoint status handling, documentation, and tests. The Vercel team ID is stored through the existing Vercel ProviderId workspace slot, and the Vercel user email is used only while building the Vercel result. No changed code sends or displays another provider's identity, plan, account label, or email. The new Endpoint match is local to rust/src/providers/vercel/budget.rs. The provider_settings.rs addition is a lookup entry, not cross-provider behavior branching.

Full details: Secrets Handled Safely

Explanation

No secret leak was introduced. The Vercel changes use fixed error text and do not include token values or response bodies. The token remains limited to the existing bearer-auth request path, while the new Team ID is validated and stored as a workspace setting. The diff adds no logging, snapshots, credential-file deletion, or keyring changes.

Full details: No Unapproved Dependencies

Explanation

The pull request changes six source, test, and documentation files. It does not change any Cargo.toml or package.json, add an npm or yarn lockfile, or change a pnpm packageManager version. Therefore, the custom failure condition is not met.

Full details: Ui Changes Include Windows Proof

Explanation

The PR changes user-visible behavior in Settings and the Vercel card. It enables saving the Vercel Team ID and changes the displayed /v2/user 401/403 error. The description mentions prior and mocked proofs, but it states that the required CUA desktop rerun was not run and does not include screenshots or a proof note from a fresh Windows build.

Resolution

Run a fresh Windows build and add screenshots or a proof note to the PR description. Cover saving the Vercel Team ID and displaying the rejected-token message for a bad token.
