Latest llama.rn and LiteRT-LM; release script tests leave the repository alone - #724
Conversation
- llama.rn pinned exactly to 0.13.0-rc.7 in the app and the Pro peer. No 0.13.0 stable exists yet; 0.12.9 is older than the rc line we ship. - ggml-hexagon v73/v75/v79/v81 copied from llama.rn 0.13.0-rc.7 bin/arm64-v8a, so the NPU kernels match the bundled llama.cpp. - Podfile.lock: llama-rn 0.13.0-rc.7. - package-lock also picks up the shared @offgrid/rag devDependency.

Run from a pre-push hook, the fixtures inherited GIT_DIR and friends, so their git commands wrote to the real repository (it was left bare, with a fixture user name).

When the model can call search_knowledge_base this turn, a project chat no longer preloads the knowledge base, so a question that does not need it does not wait on it. A model without that tool still gets it in its prompt.
They deleted the old answer and every later turn, and synced the deletes to Desktop. Now each message follows a parent (the shared chat-thread rules): a retry adds a version of the answer and an edit a version of the question or answer, each keeping its later turns. The chat and the model history read the shown thread, a ‹ 1/2 › switcher steps between versions, and versions sync. Test: retrying an older answer shows 2/2; Previous brings back the first answer and the turn after it; every message stays saved.
Same rule as Desktop (appendPlace in @offgrid/sync): only a retry, resend or edit stores a parent and a choice time, so a late synced turn keeps its order.
Mobile tests leave a handle open, so the hook waited forever after every test had passed. --forceExit ends Jest after the run; a failing test still fails the push. Pro moves to the same hook fix.
ChatDocumentsSheet is used through useChatDocumentsSheet, and documentService is imported from its own module. xcrun is no longer an ignored binary.

Do not use --forceExit in the pre-push Jest gates.
.husky/pre-push states that leaked asynchronous work is a test failure to fix. Jest’s --forceExit exits after tests complete even when timers or sockets remain open. Both commands can therefore pass their assertions while allowing leaked asynchronous work.

Update the conversation activity stamp when selecting a version.
selectMessageVersion changes a message but does not advance conversation.updatedAt. Conversation ordering uses updatedAt as the activity stamp. A version switch can therefore leave the conversation in a stale position in recent-conversation lists.

…ow, remove it, and a Stop holds the rest While a reply runs, each queued message shows above the composer with send now and remove. Send now (or a long-press on send) stops the reply and sends that message on its own; the rest go together after it. A Stop or a failed reply holds the queue, says why, and sends it when the user taps Send. Queued messages from another chat are never merged into this one. The rules live in @offgrid/sync. Test: long-press send-now, row send-now, Stop holds then Send releases, and a removed message is never sent.
…ce seats, knowledge and image Rendered tests over the device-boundary fakes, from the mobile e2e handoff: - edit and resend keep versions, on llama.cpp and a remote server - versions and plain chats survive a relaunch - a synced Desktop turn keeps its place among versions; startup repair puts a missing synced reply back in order - a document synced from Desktop is read and cited in a project chat - the sponsoring phone stays Pro when it pairs into a full mesh - project knowledge is searched only when a question needs it - a Desktop image job that fails for memory offers Run anyway - deleting a chat from Home or a project removes its images - a saved voice is kept when its folder cannot be read - dropdown options, tool switches and the thinking preview for screen readers - Load demo data fills the demo project and the paired Mac's transfers Harness: relaunch with a failing read, a paired Desktop peer that sends ops and files, Desktop async image jobs, persisted and pooled-BLOB SQLite, and the diffusion fake now saves where the native modules do. testIDs only in src.
When the saved chats could not be read at launch, every save was blocked for the rest of the session, so new chats vanished at the next launch. The read is now retried (at once on the first save, then with backoff). Once it succeeds, the saved chats and the ones made since are merged and saved. The open chat stays open. Saved history is still never overwritten while it cannot be read. Test: a launch whose first read fails keeps the two saved chats, adds the chat made then, and a healthy relaunch lists and opens all three.
Screen readers read each alert button's text but not that it is a button. Each button now has the button role and its text as its label. Test: the alert's title, message and each button are separate stops, and the buttons are found by role and name.
The document store accepted a BLOB only as its own ArrayBuffer. A typed-array view into a pooled buffer was dropped, so every vector was ignored and search by meaning found nothing. The guard for this was lost when the knowledge base store was rewritten. Views are now copied out by offset and length. Test: with two PDFs, a question that only vector search can answer cites the right one before and after a relaunch, for both BLOB shapes.
Projects, settings, auth, remote servers and Whisper had the same gap as chats: after a failed read at launch, nothing was saved for the rest of the session. The save gate now owns the recovery for all six stores. It retries the read, then merges: saved values the session did not touch, plus the session's added, edited and deleted records and changed settings fields. Saved state is still never overwritten while it cannot be read. Test: a project made during a launch whose read failed is listed with the saved one after a healthy relaunch; the merge rules have a unit test.
…d of showing Paused On the iPhone, after send now the remaining queued message showed 'Paused after Stop' with a Send button while the send-now reply ran, though it was sent by itself when that reply ended. Sending a send-now message now releases the hold. Also logs in GAPS_BACKLOG what the rendered tests cannot see, the LiteRT check still owed on Android, and the image-failure queue case. Test: while the message sent now is answered, the other waits with no Paused label or Send button, then goes.
… twice
On the iPhone, after send now the stopped reply settled twice (the Stop, then
the native stop). Each scheduled a drain, so the other queued message was sent
while the send-now turn was still starting. Both ran on one model and the
second came back empty ('No response'). The queue now waits while a reply
runs or a queued turn is still being sent, and sends the next when it settles.
Test: two drains while a send-now turn is being sent start it once, and the
other message goes only after it settles.
The app kept its own copy of the residency policy, which had drifted from the one Off Grid Desktop uses and still claimed text and image models always evict each other. The copy is gone: the manager now asks the shared policy what fits, what to evict, the dirty-memory budget and ceiling, what to free on a memory warning and when to free idle speech. The manager only reads device memory, holds the model lock and unloads. Rendered tests over the real chat screen, with RAM profiles at the device boundary: the text model loads on the first message, text and image stay loaded side by side when memory allows, and when the image does not fit the text model goes, then comes back on the next message in place of the image.

Wait for hydration recovery before waiting for chat writes.
When the initial chat read fails, hydrated remains false. A later store update starts tryRecover() but returns before it registers a pending write. tryRecover() issues store.setState({}) only after rehydrate() succeeds. Therefore, waitForChatPersistence() can return before the recovery write starts, and the next launch may miss the chat.

complete before calling waitForChatPersistence; use the store’s hydration status
and the existing RTL wait utility so a recovery write can register before
persistence is awaited.

Fix the outcome count in this entry.
The heading says "three things". The body says "four outcomes are not observable". The list below has three items. The thinking-preview outcome is explicitly not listed. Change "four" to "three" so that the text agrees with the heading and the list.

Clear only the displayed conversation’s queued messages.
chatQueueView shows only items for the active conversation, but this callback clears the service-wide queue. If another conversation also has queued messages, tapping this conversation’s Clear control silently deletes those hidden messages. Scope removal to the active conversation, or make the control and its confirmation explicitly describe a global clear.

Notify subscribers when Stop holds an image queue.
If image generation is running without text generation, stopGeneration() sets queueHold here and takes the !this.state.isGenerating branch. That branch can return without a state notification. The image path later calls drainQueue() without a signal, so the subscribed UI can still show an unpaused queue with no Resume button while processing remains held. Use updateState or notify listeners when setting this hold.

Keep queued turns when dispatch defers to model selection.
On an image-only device, queued text turns can drain after an image reply. If no text model is selected, dispatchGenerationFn stores the turn in the single pending-message ref and resolves without starting generation. This finally block then dispatches the next queued turn, which replaces that ref; earlier prompts disappear. Make deferred dispatch an explicit unsettled queue outcome, or retain all deferred turns until model selection completes.

Update dispatchGenerationFn and the queue settlement logic in the finally block
so a turn deferred for model selection is not treated as settled: keep it and
subsequent queued turns until model selection completes, rather than calling
processNextInQueue and replacing the pending-message ref. Preserve normal queue
progression for turns that actually finish.

A successful retry does not open the gate unless rehydrate calls the persist callback.
tryRecover checks hydrated after recovery.persist.rehydrate(). Only the onRehydrateStorage callback sets hydrated. Zustand persist runs onRehydrateStorage on every rehydrate() call, so this path should work. One gap remains. If getItem resolves to null, the callback runs without an error and hydrated becomes true. In that case, the merge does not run, because persisted is falsy. The session state is still written by setState({}). That outcome is acceptable.
The real risk is in tryRecover. If rehydrate() rejects, the finally block runs and then the rejection propagates. scheduleRetry() is never called, and the .catch(() => {}) callers swallow the error. Zustand v5 normally reports read errors through the callback and does not reject. A throwing merge or migrate, however, can reject. In that case, retries stop silently and writes stay blocked for the rest of the session.

Bind each access token to its MCP URL.
When the fake protects two servers, signedInEarlier issues a token for one URL, but this check accepts that token at the other URL. A test can therefore miss a client bug that sends a credential to the wrong server. Store the token’s MCP URL with its expiry and require it to match this.targetUrl.
