Each request must be authenticated with an API key using the Bearer Token method. Sites API is available on [Enterprise plans](https://plausible.io/enterprise-web-analytics). Please [contact us](https://plausible.io/contact) to discuss your needs and to get an API key with permissions for the endpoints listed in this document.

:::note
The read-only endpoints (listing sites, teams, goals, custom properties and guests, and getting a site by domain) also work with a [Stats API key](stats-api.md) on any plan that includes the Stats API.

## Authentication

When you create a Sites API key, it is scoped to the team selected in the top-right menu. It can manage only the sites owned by that team. It does not include sites owned by other teams or sites where the key owner is only a Guest Viewer or Guest Editor.

For example, suppose you are a Guest Viewer for a client's site. A Stats API key that you create under **My personal sites** cannot query that client's site. The client team would need to create a key scoped to their team.

:::note
A Stats API key can also use the read-only endpoints of the [Sites API](sites-api.md), for example to [list the sites](sites-api.md#get-apiv1sites) owned by its team. Creating, changing or deleting sites needs a Sites API key.

### Example curl request

In the following request, replace `YOUR-KEY` with a reference to your stats API key and `site_id` value with your domain as you've added it to your Plausible account.

All plans include a 30-day free trial, no credit card required. During the trial you have access to all Business plan features and limits, so you can explore the full product before choosing a plan.

Not sure which plan fits? When you [choose a plan](https://plausible.io/billing/choose-plan) in your account, the page shows your billable pageviews over the last 30 days, selects the pageview tier that covers them and marks the plan that fits your usage and the features you've been using as **Recommended**. On a trial, it's worth checking near the end, once it covers a full month of your traffic.

Our 15% discount is available only to nonprofits, educational institutions and open-source projects. It applies to Business plans with annual billing only. See [nonprofit and education pricing](nonprofit-and-education-pricing.md) for eligibility and how to apply.
