Exact model-supplied causal references can fail validation when their byte offsets are missing or inaccurate. For explicit causal references, validation derives the UTF-8 byte position for a unique exact slice in the specified changed line, while repeated slices require an exact position and unmatched evidence remains rejected. Scorer evaluation reports retain bounded validation codes without copying raw diagnostic text or changing qualification criteria.
