AI-native design engineer. Design and code are the same discipline, not adjacent ones. I was the designer and the front-end developer on a design system and component library running 85 magazine sites across 60+ brands: the same person who translated product requirements into designs also committed the SCSS.

Now I build with AI in the loop. Coding agents doing real work in my repos, local models running in my homelab, and a router that picks between them and frontier APIs on cost and capability. What I care about most is the interface layer of AI products: streaming, tool use, agent supervision, and accessibility that is designed in from the start instead of bolted on.

• Cheapshot is on-device OCR for macOS that reads text from screenshots and screen recordings and redacts secrets, keys, tokens, card numbers, emails, and IP addresses, before anything is uploaded to an AI or API. It runs on Apple's Vision framework, so nothing leaves the machine, and it cut my own token bill by 86 percent. Read the story.

• localai-16gb-bench benchmarks any GGUF model family on a 16 GB NVIDIA GPU and helps you pick a daily driver. Spoiler: So far the DavidAU IQ3M Quant of Qwen3.6-27B wins, and has an 80K context window. Results coming soon.

• subfolio-astro ports Area17's Subfolio from its original Kohana 2.x and PHP 5.6 stack to an Astro static site. A folder on disk becomes a themeable web gallery, still with no database. • vps-plausible-stack self-hosts Plausible (privacy, GDPR respecting Google Analytics) behind Caddy on a 2 GB Debian VPS. I'm running mine on IONOS for $4 a month. Works great.
