Adds typed MemoryApi::erase_scope (POST /memory/v1/erasures) and MemoryApi::erasure_status (GET /memory/v1/erasures/{id}) for the scoped-erasure routes from tinyhumansai/backend#1410 and tinyhumansai/cortexdb-saas#21. Addresses the open review threads on #50. Two wiremock tests; fmt, clippy and cargo test pass.

Co-authored-by: Medulla medulla@tinyhumans.ai

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added the ability to request permanent deletion of a memory scope and check the status of an erasure by ID.
    • Erasure status requests correctly handle IDs containing slashes, and deletion requests return the server’s response.
  • Tests
    • Added coverage for memory erasure requests, returned responses, and status lookups.

Add erase_scope to permanently erase a scope along with its raw events,
derived layers and blobs, and erasure_status to poll the progress of an
erasure by id. Both are served by the /memory/v1 surface, so responses
are returned unwrapped, and tests cover the request bodies and id
encoding.

  • Lane summary: The change adds two memory client methods (erase_scope, erasure_status) with wiremock tests that pin the request method, path, body, and the unwrapped response shape — real behavioural assertions that would fail on regression. 📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The memory API adds methods to start permanent scope deletion and retrieve an erasure status. Tests cover the request body, percent-encoded ID, and returned responses. The module documentation also adds file uploads to its list of capabilities.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Change: Feature

Suggested reviewers: m3ga-mind

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to faf93

The erasure response paths have no established merge-blocking failure. Rename the test file to meet the repository’s test-file naming requirement.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to faf93

The new methods reuse existing request controls and credentials, and the routes were already accessible through the client. No security regression is established. Risk remains low rather than minimal because service-side authorization and deletion recovery guarantees could not be verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The documented destructive unit includes a selected scope and its descendants across raw events, derived layers, and blobs. Misuse could therefore affect more than an individual memory item, but the maximum authorized tenant and scope exposure cannot be determined from this client.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • inferred — No new client-side authority bypass is established: these calls retain shared controls, and callers already had raw access to the same published routes at base. Credential propagation does not itself prove service-side tenant isolation or erasure-ID authorization.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The new methods issue requests and return dynamic responses; they add no durable operation identity, automatic retry, terminal-state validation, cancellation, or cleanup mechanism. A lost POST response is propagated without client-side reconciliation. Backend duplicate handling, atomicity, concurrent execution, and recovery guarantees remain unknown, not demonstrated failures.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Confirm the service contract for tenant/scope authorization, status-ID ownership, duplicate submissions, ambiguous POST recovery, terminal states, and raw-response shape before documenting stronger deletion guarantees or adding automatic retries.

priority medium critique confident

Preserve the raw erasure response body

The method documentation says this endpoint returns memory-api's own body rather than a {success, data} envelope, but passing true asks send_typed to unwrap the response. If the service returns a legitimate body containing success and data fields, the client will discard the outer body and return only data, violating the documented raw-body contract. Pass false for this endpoint.

.send_typed(Method::POST, "/memory/v1/erasures", &[], Some(body), false)

P2 Badge Include the required whole-scope confirmation

For a whole-scope erasure, the memory contract requires confirm_all: true; sending the documented {scope, audit_note?} shape returns 422 EMPTY_SELECTOR_WITHOUT_CONFIRMATION. Because the Rustdoc and the new happy-path test both omit that field, callers following this API will fail against the real service while the mock test passes. Document and test the required field, or encode it in a typed whole-scope request, so the method matches the deployed contract.

P2 Badge Document the new erasure API surface

These methods expand the public memory namespace, but docs/api-surface.md still describes that namespace as ending with forget/scopes/free-period and never mentions scope erasure or status polling. That leaves the repository's integration documentation out of sync with the newly exposed SDK surface; update the memory entry or add an erasure section in this contract change.
