Demonstration library; progress is illustrative. Downloads start empty.
- Download
BackloGame-0.6.4-windows-x64-portable.zipfrom Releases. - If Windows blocks startup, open the ZIP properties, select Unblock, then extract again. Extract the entire archive to a writable local folder.
- Run
BackloGame.exe. Keep_internalbeside it.
No BackloGame installer, Python installation, account, or API key is needed. The app uses the system Microsoft WebView2 Evergreen Runtime. If it is missing, install it once from Microsoft. The download starts with an empty library. English is the default; select Russian in Settings → General → Interface language.
- Search Steam, IGDB, Wikipedia / Wikidata, or Metacritic, or add games manually.
- Choose which of the four catalogs to search, compare them side by side, and select a source for each metadata field. Cover selection has its own gallery.
- Import public Steam libraries and HLTB profiles or CSV exports, with duplicate previews.
- Track replays and multiple completion dates, with a platform for each playthrough.
- Explore interactive statistics with bars and colorful pie charts.
- Keep separate sorting/view choices for each category.
- Choose from eight color themes.
- Check and install portable updates from Settings, keeping one previous app version.
- Track progress and favorites; create your own categories and platforms.
- Use cards, a list, or a compact one-line list with small covers.
- Filter by platform, genre, series, tags, and dates; sort or drag into manual order.
- Add notes, tags, priorities, and several series separated by
;. - Choose and save portrait and landscape covers from SteamGridDB and other catalogs. SteamGridDB supports saved content/style/size filters, paginated results, enlarged hover previews, and double-click to apply.
- Select a manual thumbnail crop and fill missing series from Wikidata.
- Upload your own PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP from the details panel or context menu. Choose portrait or landscape, preview, or restore the original. Files are stored locally and included in full backups.
- Merge two or more duplicate cards with a preview, retained history, and undo.
- Edit multiple games together and collapse the side panels.
- Share the current category and filters as an offline HTML file with embedded, compressed cover thumbnails. Original artwork stays unchanged. Personal notes are included only when explicitly enabled.
- Export and restore full backups. At most 10 ZIP backups are retained.
Catalog search requires Internet. Saved entries, notes, descriptions, and previously downloaded covers remain available offline. Resource buttons open external sites in your default browser. This version organizes a backlog; it does not launch games or synchronize accounts.
- Active filters appear above the games. Remove one with its ×, or clear all.
- Search words in any order across titles, original titles, notes, series, tags,
platforms, genres, and developers. Apostrophes and accents do not affect matches.
Use quotes for a phrase and
-wordto exclude a word. - Save the current category, search, filters, sorting, and view as a named collection. Collections update automatically as games are added or edited. Update replaces the selected collection's conditions; Delete removes only the saved collection. Collections live in the local database and are included in full backups.
- With no input field focused and no dialog open, type a title prefix such as
Ratto jump to the first matching visible game. A one-second pause starts a new prefix. - No series filters games whose series field is empty; it is not a stored series.
On first launch, BackloGame creates data beside the executable. The library,
covers, settings, backups, and window profile stay there.
To move your collection, close the app and copy its entire folder. Use Settings → Updates
for verified downloads and installation. Version 0.1.0 needs one manual update first.
To update manually,
close the app, replace BackloGame.exe and _internal, and keep data.
Use a folder with write access; do not launch from inside a ZIP.
Windows 11 x64, Python 3.14 x64, and system WebView2 are the tested environment.
- Run
Setup.cmdto create.venvand install pinned desktop dependencies. - Run
Run.cmdfor the desktop app, orDevelop-Browser.cmdfor browser development. - Run
Build-Release.cmdto build the siblingBackloGame-Releasefolder. - Run
.venv/Scripts/python.exe tools/package_release.pyto create a clean ZIP and SHA-256 checksum indist.
The build refuses to overwrite a release library containing games. Packaging
excludes all data, including empty databases and browser profiles.
Neither script reads the sibling BackloGame-Personal folder.
Tests (run from this source folder):
.venv/Scripts/python.exe -m unittest discover -s tests
.venv/Scripts/python.exe -m unittest test_library
node --test tests/test_cloudflare_worker.mjs
node test_filters.cjs
node tests/test_artwork.cjs
node tests/test_statistics.cjs
node --expose-internals tests/check-localization.cjs
BACKLOGAME_DATA_DIR or --data-dir selects a separate data folder for testing.
The older MY_GAMES_DATA_DIR alias remains accepted. Native windows use separate
local ports. A local HTTP service bound to 127.0.0.1 serves the interface
inside its own desktop window.
Library logic and the HTML/CSS/JavaScript interface are shared. OS-specific setup
is isolated in desktop_platform.py. Linux can use a pywebview GTK/WebKit or Qt
backend, but Linux packaging and real-machine behavior have not been verified.
The included EXE, build spec, and CMD launchers target Windows only.
See component notices and included licenses. Game artwork and descriptions remain the property of their respective owners. The download contains no personal game library or game covers.
Save your SteamGridDB API key in Settings → Sources; the Instructions panel links to the key preferences page. Right-click a game → Choose a catalog cover → SteamGridDB to browse portrait and landscape artwork independently. Portrait covers appear in cards and details; landscape covers appear in both list views. Images are saved locally and backed up. Resetting one format preserves the other, and metadata updates preserve chosen artwork.
The key lives separately in .steamgriddb-key in your personal data folder. JSON exports and ZIP backups exclude it. Do not publish your personal data folder.
Deleted-game covers are retained during the 10-minute undo period. Unused files are then cleaned automatically; shared images and merge history are retained. Restarting ends undo availability, so cleanup runs immediately. Existing backups remain intact, with the same limit of 10.
