Summary

Makes OIE B2 evaluation reports auditable by exposing the original fixture mapping and any remap/expansion used for scoring.

This PR contains feature code only. The CI workflow changes originally bundled here were split out into #1202 so that feature work and CI infrastructure merge independently.

Solution

  • Keep scoring behavior unchanged: B2 continues to score against expanded cre_ids.
  • Report, for every evaluated mapping:
    • gold — expanded scoring IDs
    • gold_original — authored fixture IDs
    • gold_remap — remap strategy, when used
    • gold_is_expanded — whether the score used expanded IDs
  • Add a top-level gold_remap_summary with expanded-row and remap counts.
  • Add tests for both remapped and direct mappings, covering aligned and unaligned expanded rows so remap provenance remains auditable.

Files Changed

File Role
scripts/oie_owasp_eval/run_b2_pr_mappings.py Emits gold, gold_original, gold_remap, gold_is_expanded per mapping, and gold_remap_summary at top level.
application/tests/oie_b2_gold_loader_test.py Covers remapped and direct mappings, including aligned and unaligned expanded rows.

Full diff is in the Files changed tab — no workflow, dependency, or unrelated files are touched.

Tests

  • Remapped mapping (expanded_row, E1) — scores against expanded IDs and records the remap strategy.
  • Direct mapping (direct_row, D1) — records gold_original with no remap.
  • Unaligned expanded row (expanded_unaligned_row, E2) — stays unaligned (aligned=False, hit=False, predicted=[]).
  • gold_remap_summary reports expanded_rows: 2 and by_remap: {"related_expand_orphan": 2}.

Reviewer Notes

  • Scope: feature code only. No CI, dependency, or workflow changes.
  • Branch target: staging.
  • Split rationale: the workflow fix lives in Fix CI on staging: pin runner to ubuntu-24.04 and Python 3.11 #1202 so CI changes can be reviewed, merged, and reverted independently of the feature.
  • CodeRabbit nitpick status: the request for an unaligned remapped expanded row is already addressed in the current test file.
    • expanded_unaligned_row (section E2) is included alongside expanded_row (E1) and direct_row (D1).
    • The test asserts the unaligned expanded row stays unaligned (aligned=False, hit=False, predicted=[]).
    • Both expanded rows are counted in gold_remap_summary (expanded_rows: 2, by_remap: {"related_expand_orphan": 2}).
    • The aligned expanded-row (E1) and direct-row (D1) assertions remain intact.

Related

  • Refs #1124 — the underlying gold/remap mismatch this provenance reporting helps audit.
  • CI fix for staging: #1202
  • CI fix for main: #1201
  • CI context: #952, #1105

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Evaluation results now use expanded gold evidence when scoring and include details about original and expanded evidence, remapping, and whether evidence sets grew.
    • Results summarize expanded rows by remapping type and include gold provenance for both aligned and unaligned rows.
  • Tests
    • Added coverage for expanded evidence provenance, rows without remapping, and remapping summaries.

Walkthrough

The B2 scoring path uses expanded gold IDs and adds original IDs, remap metadata, and expansion counts to detail records and the report.

Changes

Gold Evidence and Scoring

Layer / File(s) Summary
Gold evidence contract and tests
scripts/oie_owasp_eval/run_b2_pr_mappings.py, application/tests/oie_b2_gold_loader_test.py
gold_evidence returns sorted, deduplicated original and expanded IDs, remap metadata, and an expansion flag. Tests cover expanded and unremapped evidence.
Scoring details and summary
scripts/oie_owasp_eval/run_b2_pr_mappings.py, application/tests/oie_b2_gold_loader_test.py
score_run scores against expanded gold IDs, adds evidence fields to aligned and unaligned details, and reports expanded-row and remap counts. Tests check provenance and scoring results for aligned and unaligned rows.

Add an integration test for the score_run report boundary.

Extend application/tests/oie_b2_gold_loader_test.py with a mocked-DB score_run test. Exercise aligned and unaligned records using both expanded and unremapped fixture rows. Assert each record’s gold, gold_original, gold_remap, and gold_is_expanded fields, along with gold_remap_summary.expanded_rows and gold_remap_summary.by_remap.

Exercise the unaligned remapped branch in score_run.

The implementation currently counts remapped rows before the unaligned exit. Add an unaligned expanded row and expect it in gold_remap_summary; otherwise a later move of the counter updates below continue will pass this test while undercounting evaluated mappings.

CI failure root cause: The e2e job is failing because actions/setup-python@v5 cannot find a prebuilt Python 3.12.3 binary for Ubuntu 26.04 (which ubuntu-latest now resolves to). This is an infra/runner mismatch, not a test failure.

Fix (recommended): pin the runner in .github/workflows/e2e.yml:

- runs-on: ubuntu-latest
+ runs-on: ubuntu-24.04
This keeps the existing python-version: '3.12.3' working without change.

Alternative: if we must stay on ubuntu-latest, relax the version:

- python-version: '3.12.3'
+ python-version: '3.11'

Note: Since PR 1105 is also based on staging, it will hit the same failure until this is merged into staging (or applied in that PR as well). Worth applying the fix directly to staging so both PRs pick it up.
