A capture can scramble a table row when a hidden cell editor is still attached #473

Open

Description

@chhoumann

A capture can scramble a Markdown table row when Obsidian has left a hidden table-cell editor attached to the note and the note then changes on disk.

Reproduce (V-471, Obsidian 1.14.4, Linux; the same on master d502219 and on #471's head)

  1. In Live Preview, edit inside a table cell.
  2. Toggle Source mode inside the cell, or navigate the tab away and back. Obsidian keeps the cell editor attached, but it's no longer on screen.
  3. The note changes on disk (sync, or another editor).
  4. Without clicking into the note, capture a timestamp: the table row is scrambled.

Clicking into the note, or onto its tab header, clears the stale cell, so that path is safe. It's rare: it needs a cell edit, leaving the note, an outside change, then a capture without refocusing. Screenshots are in the V-471 evidence folder.

Possible fix: before writing through the cell editor, check that the cell is still on screen. If it isn't, write through the note's editor (or call Obsidian's destroyTableCell() first). This uses Obsidian's private table-cell API, like #471, so it needs its own runtime journeys.
