Motivation

The reference implementation (dashpay/dash v24.0.0-rc.4) reads several special transactions that dash-primitives refuses or reads differently:

  • Output values: the reference implementation reads an output value as any signed 64-bit amount, and the transaction check rejects a negative one with its own reason. dash-primitives refused to decode a negative value, so it could not report the reason.
  • Asset locks, asset unlocks and CbTx: the reference implementation accepts version 2 asset locks (whose credits may pay to a script hash) and version 2 asset unlocks. It hashes a version 2 asset unlock by a stable txid, and reads a version 4 CbTx whose payload commits to the instance hashes of the version 2 unlocks, in block order. dash-primitives refused all of them and hashed version 2 asset unlocks in full, so the merkle root of a block holding one did not match.
  • Provider transactions: from version 3 the reference implementation reads a ProRegTx or ProUpRegTx with a list of owner payouts where the payout script was, and a ProRegTx with the shares of a shared collateral, a consent signature per share and the terms of an early dissolution. It checks both lists, puts the payouts in the message the collateral key signs, and reads three new provider transactions for shared masternodes: a dissolution (type 10), a share reward update (type 11) and a shared registrar update (type 12). dash-primitives read version 3 payloads in a layout the reference implementation refuses, so it refused the reference implementation's version 3 payloads and accepted bytes the reference implementation does not read. It carried types 10 to 12 as bytes, and its transaction check refused them as unknown.

This pull request reads each of them as the reference implementation does and checks them with its rules that need no chain context, in its order. No corpus entry is built by hand. Testnet gives a CbTx and a block from the v24 activation and two version 3 registrations. The other new vectors exist only on regtest at the pin: transactions and a block from the reference implementation's own functional tests, run unmodified. No public chain can give them back, so they are fixed vectors in the test modules rather than corpus entries, each naming the functional test line that sent it. Mainnet has none of the new versions or types yet, and no chain or functional test has an asset lock with a P2SH credit, so that case has only a parametrised test. The checks are parametrised tests in each module.

Additional Information

Description Notes Reference implementation Corpus and tests
Decode output values as signed amounts TxOut::value is a SignedAmount. A value in the money range decodes, and Transaction::check rejects a negative one with bad-txns-vout-negative, in the reference order. A value outside the money range fails to decode, where the reference implementation reads it and its check rejects it. The asset lock credit range check reads the same range. value, serialization, check, money range transaction::tests::check_negative_output, decode_output_value, assetlock::tests::check
Accept version 2 asset unlocks Version 2 has the layout of version 1. Refusing it before v24 is active needs the chain and is left to the caller. payload, version check assetunlock::tests::check
Hash version 2 asset unlocks by their stable txid The txid of an asset unlock whose payload has the size of a valid one (145 bytes) and a version of 2 or above is the hash of its serialization with the last 132 bytes, the requested height, quorum hash and quorum signature, zeroed. The rule reads the payload bytes only, before any validation and whatever the deployment state. The block merkle root uses this txid. Transaction::instance_hash returns the hash of the whole serialization, and Transaction::has_stable_txid tells the two apart. The sizes are sums of size_of over the field types. sizes, rule, txid, instance hash regtest unlock 0f9db356 as a fixed vector, with the txid and instance hash the reference implementation reports; transaction::tests::regtest_unlock, stable_txid, stable_txid_leaves_out_quorum_info, instance_hash_matches_reference
Accept version 2 asset locks and P2SH credits A version 2 credit pays to a public key hash or a script hash, and any other script fails with bad-assetlocktx-script-pubkey. Version 1 keeps bad-assetlocktx-pubKeyHash. Refusing version 2 before v24 is active needs the chain and is left to the caller. payload, check regtest lock 3a7308f2 (sent by the reference wallet) as a fixed vector; assetlock::tests::regtest_vectors, check, whose p2sh cases cover the P2SH credits
Type the CbTx version CbCommitmentVersion is a u16 enum with an Unknown arm, so any version decodes and the check refuses an unknown one with bad-cbtx-version. version rule cbtx::tests::version_sets_fields
Read the asset unlock root of version 4 CbTx Version 4 ends with a merkle root that commits to the instance hashes of the version 2 unlocks, in block order. Versions 1 to 4 pass the check, and 0 and 5 fail it. The version a block must use depends on the active deployments and is left to the caller. layout, version rule testnet CbTx ab22dcb7 (height 1578000) in cbtx.json5 and regtest CbTx 76faabf3 (non-null root) as a fixed vector; cbtx::tests::regtest_vectors, version_sets_fields, root_follows_version
Hold compact signatures as EcdsaRecSigArray EcdsaRecSigArray is the 65-byte compact signature, written without a length, with its codec and hex form. CollateralSig and OwnerSig wrap an Option of it, and the signatures of the new payloads are newtypes around it that name their role. signature sig::tests
Read version 3 ProRegTx and ProUpRegTx in the v24 layout From version 3 a list of owner payouts, each a script and its part of the owner reward in basis points, takes the place of the payout script, which is then empty. A version 3 ProRegTx follows it with its collateral shares (amount, refund script, reward script, owner key id), one 65-byte consent signature per share with no count of its own, the early dissolution period in blocks and the early penalty in duffs. Each list starts with a one-byte count. Encoding writes the consent signatures as held, so a ProRegTx with a signature count other than its share count does not read back. Develop's three version 3 registrations, which the reference implementation does not read as a ProRegTx, leave proregtx.json5. ProRegTx, ProUpRegTx, payout, signature, share none of its own: its version 3 entries come with the next row, whose checks they need
Check version 3 payout and share lists as the reference implementation does Owner payouts number one to eight. Each takes 100 to 10000 basis points, the parts sum to 10000, and each script is a distinct P2PKH or P2SH. A P2PKH payout may not pay the owner or voting key; a P2SH payout is not compared with them. A version 1 or 2 payout script is checked as a single payout of 10000. A shared ProRegTx has its collateral among its own outputs, no owner key and no payouts. Its two to eight shares each hold 100 DASH up to the collateral of the masternode type (1000 DASH, or 4000 DASH for Evo) and sum to it. Owner keys are non-null and distinct, refund scripts are distinct, and the refund and reward scripts are P2PKH or P2SH, and a P2PKH one pays neither the voting key nor any share's owner key; an empty reward script is not checked. The early period is at most 420480 blocks, and the penalty is below the smallest share and zero without an early period. An unshared ProRegTx has no early terms. These rules run before the network info checks, in the reference order. A ProUpRegTx payout may not pay the voting key either. payout list, share list, ProRegTx, ProUpRegTx, limits, collaterals testnet registrations 2770d249 and 13ccca67 (heights 1578168 and 1578185), regtest registrations e069aa21, 7efe0bfb, be0bcc47, bf813e53, 7cf73bfa and updates e7cb375d, 6e83b4a0 as fixed vectors; proregtx::tests::regtest_vectors, proupregtx::tests::regtest_vectors, share::tests, proregtx::tests::check, proupregtx::tests::check
Build the version 3 ProRegTx sign string over its payouts From version 3 the first field of the message the collateral key signs lists the payouts as address:reward, separated by commas, with the script in hex where it has no address. sign string, payout list proregtx::tests::collateral_key_signs_payouts, the signature of regtest registration e069aa21 over its two payouts against its collateral key
Type ProDisTx Type 10 dissolves a shared masternode. It holds the ProTx hash, the index of the acting share and, after a one-byte count, 65-byte signatures: one by the acting share's owner, or one per share in share order. The check refuses none or more than eight. type, layout, check regtest dd6370e6, 7d45a115, 0dd2aacf, 3fabf05b as fixed vectors; prodistx::tests::regtest_vectors, check
Type ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx Type 11 changes where one share's rewards go. It holds the ProTx hash, the share index, the reward script, the inputs hash and the share owner's signature, which must be 65 bytes; the script must be P2PKH or P2SH. Type 12 replaces the operator key (basic scheme) and the voting key of a shared masternode. Neither key may be null, and it carries one to eight 65-byte signatures after a one-byte count, one per share in share order. type 11, type 11 check, type 12, type 12 check regtest 5b99ff07, 29196a97 and 61939183 as fixed vectors; proupsharetx::tests::regtest_vectors, check, proupsharedregtx::tests::regtest_vectors, check
Check the asset unlock root of version 4 CbTx After the merkle root and duplicate transaction checks, Block::check reads the payload of a first transaction of the coinbase type. If it decodes as a CbTx of version 4 or above, it must commit to the instance hashes of the version 2 unlocks, in block order, or the block fails with bad-cbtx-assetunlockmerkleroot. The rule runs before the size and coinbase checks. Block::asset_unlock_merkle_root computes the root. check, order, root testnet block 1578005 (version 4 CbTx, version 1 unlock) in blocks.json5 and regtest block 64b2baa9 (version 2 unlock, non-null root) as a fixed vector; block::tests::regtest_block, check_asset_unlock_root, coinbase_commitment_tx_takes_only_the_coinbase_type
Check that ProRegTx shares fit its encoding ProRegTx::check refuses a payload whose join signatures are not one per share with JoinSigCountMismatch, and one with shares below version 3 with SharesVersionTooLow, before the share checks. The layout writes the shares and their signatures under one count, and only from version 3, so neither payload round-trips through its encoding. The reference implementation refuses to write a payload whose signatures are not one per share. Neither variant has a reason in the reference implementation. layout the sig_missing, sig_extra, sigs_unshared and shares_basic_bls cases of proregtx::tests::check
Check that provider payouts fit their version ProRegTx::check and ProUpRegTx::check refuse a payload that sets a payout script from version 3, or payouts below it, with PayoutVersionMismatch, before the payout checks. The layout carries the payout list from version 3 and the payout script below it, so such a payload does not round-trip through its encoding. The variant has no reason in the reference implementation. ProRegTx layout, ProUpRegTx layout the payout_version cases of check in proregtx and proupregtx, share::tests::check_payout_version_takes_one_form
Require version 1 for the three share payloads ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx read their version as an integer, with the same layout at every version. Their checks first refuse any version but 1, with bad-prodis-version, bad-proupshare-version and bad-proupsharedreg-version, before their other rules. type 10 layout, type 10 check, type 11 layout, type 11 check, type 12 layout, type 12 check the version_* cases of the check tests of the three payloads
Refuse a null platform node ID An Evo ProRegTx or ProUpServTx whose platform node ID is null fails with bad-protx-platform-nodeid, after the network info checks and before the platform port checks. A ProRegTx checks its operator reward before it, with the payload's own checks. rule testnet registration 2770d249 and mainnet update e8812ae7; the null_platform_node_id cases of proregtx::tests::check and proupservtx::tests::check, null_platform_node_id_before_ports and operator_reward_before_null_platform_node_id

The reference implementation's bad-protx-payee-dest and bad-protx-shares-payee-dest follow a check that the script is P2PKH or P2SH, and every such script has a destination, so neither reason has a variant here.

The operator-key check moves to a later PR.

Breaking Changes

Changes below for dash-primitives.

  • TxOut::value returns a SignedAmount instead of an Amount, and TxOut::new takes one. Its serde form is the value in duffs as an integer, and a value in coins is no longer read. A negative value in the money range now decodes.
  • Transaction::check returns the new TxInvalid::OutputNegative for a negative output value. TxInvalid::OutputTooLarge is gone, and TxInvalid::OutputTotalTooLarge carries an i64.
  • Transaction::hash of an asset unlock with a 145-byte payload of version 2 or above is its stable txid. The block merkle root uses it.
  • AssetLock::check accepts version 2 and returns the new AssetLockInvalid::CreditBadScript.
  • AssetUnlock::check accepts version 2.
  • CoinbaseCommitment::version is the new CbCommitmentVersion instead of a u16, and CoinbaseCommitment has the new field merkle_root_asset_unlocks, read for version 4 and above, with a getter of that name and as the last argument of CoinbaseCommitment::new. CoinbaseCommitment::check accepts version 4. Its JSON gains merkleRootAssetUnlocks, which is null below version 4.
  • Block::check returns the new BlockInvalid::BadAssetUnlockMerkleRoot for a block whose version 4 CbTx does not commit to the instance hashes of its version 2 unlocks, in block order, right after the duplicate transaction check. The new Block::asset_unlock_merkle_root returns that root.
  • ProRegTx has the new fields payouts, shares, join_sigs, early_period_blocks and early_penalty, and ProUpRegTx has payouts, each with a getter of its name. ProRegTx::new and ProUpRegTx::new take them after script_payout, and clippy.toml raises too-many-arguments-threshold to 20 for ProRegTx::new. They are read for version 3, where script_payout is not read and stays empty. Their JSON gains the matching fields, which it requires. A version 3 payload that does not fit this layout no longer decodes.
  • ProRegTx::check and ProUpRegTx::check apply the payout and share list rules and return the new ProTxInvalid variants BadPayoutCount, BadPayoutReward, DuplicatePayout, BadPayoutRewardSum, ExternalSharedCollateral, SharedOwnerKey, SharedPayouts, UnsharedEarlyTerms, BadShareCount, BadEarlyPeriod, BadShareAmount, NullShareKey, DuplicateShareKey, DuplicateShareRefund, BadShareScript, ShareKeyReuse, BadShareAmountSum and BadEarlyPenalty. A ProRegTx payout that pays the owner or voting key fails with PayoutKeyReuse before the network info checks, and a ProUpRegTx payout that pays the voting key fails with it too.
  • ProRegTx::check returns the new ProTxInvalid::JoinSigCountMismatch for a payload whose join signatures are not one per share, and the new ProTxInvalid::SharesVersionTooLow for one with shares below version 3, before the share checks.
  • ProRegTx::check and ProUpRegTx::check return the new ProTxInvalid::PayoutVersionMismatch for a payload that sets a payout script from version 3, or payouts below it, before the payout checks.
  • The Signable::payload of a version 3 ProRegTx covers its payout list.
  • CollateralSig and OwnerSig hold an Option<EcdsaRecSigArray>, and provider exports the new EcdsaRecSigArray, JoinSig, DissolveSig and SharedRegistrarSig.
  • TxType and SpecialPayload have the new variants ProviderDissolve, ProviderUpdateShare and ProviderUpdateSharedRegistrar, carrying the new ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx, where types 10 to 12 were Unknown. A payload of these types that does not decode as its type is refused. Transaction::check checks them instead of returning bad-txns-type, and their checks return the new ProTxInvalid variants BadDissolveSigCount, BadShareUpdateSigSize, BadShareUpdateScript and BadSharedRegistrarSigCount.
  • ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx read their version as a u16, and their checks return the new ProTxInvalid variants BadDissolveVersion, BadShareUpdateVersion and BadSharedRegistrarVersion for any version but 1, before their other rules.
  • ProRegTx::check and ProUpServTx::check return the new ProTxInvalid::NullPlatformNodeId for an Evo payload whose platform node ID is null, after the network info checks and before the platform port checks. In ProRegTx::check it also comes after the operator reward check.

How Has This Been Tested?

just comb

CI (just test lint fuzz::test, CodeQL included) is green on each commit.

Each corpus test decodes every entry, compares it with its details, checks it and encodes it back. Each fixed vector is decoded, checked and encoded back the same way, and its txid or block hash must match. The ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx vectors also check the fields that the reference implementation's decoderawtransaction reports for them at v24.0.0-rc.5, and two shared ProRegTx registrations check their share tables and early terms the same way. Each fix commit's new entries or tests fail without its fix, except the v24 layout commit, which has none of its own: its version 3 entries come with the next commit, whose checks they need.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added support for shared masternode registration, updates, reward changes, and dissolution, including payout and collateral-sharing options.
    • Added version 2 asset-lock and asset-unlock payload support, plus version 4 coinbase commitments with an asset-unlock Merkle root.
    • Eligible asset-unlock transactions now have stable transaction IDs.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Blocks are rejected when a version 4 or later coinbase commitment’s asset-unlock root does not match the block.
    • Transaction outputs and totals are checked against signed monetary limits, and negative outputs are rejected.
    • Asset-lock credits receive stricter amount and script validation.

Transaction outputs now use signed satoshi values. Eligible asset-unlock transactions expose a full-serialization instance hash separately from their stable txid. Asset payload validation accepts version 2 under defined rules. Version 4 or later coinbase commitments carry an asset-unlock Merkle root that block validation checks. Provider payloads add shared payouts and collateral shares, update registration formats, and support transaction types 10–12.

Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

Updated after discussion: 1 finding(s) of this review were settled in the inline threads; 2 blocking finding(s) still stand.

  • ✅ Withdrawn: 🔴 Shared-registration mode is inferred from the share list

The v24 wire-format changes are broadly aligned with the pinned Dash Core layouts, and all supplied build, test, lint, and platform checks passed. However, the new shared-masternode validators still accept unsupported provider versions, malformed operator keys, and a malformed shared-registration shape that Core rejects; additional public in-memory states can also pass validation without round-tripping through the codec.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/prodistx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/prodistx.rs:61-65: New shared-masternode payloads accept versions that Core rejects
  `ProDisTx`, `ProUpShareTx`, and `ProUpSharedRegTx` all decode their version as `ProTxVersion`, which admits versions 1, 2, and 3, but none of their `check()` methods enforces the payload-specific `CURRENT_VERSION = 1` rule. A structurally valid type 10, 11, or 12 payload with version 2 or 3 therefore passes `Transaction::check()` here while pinned Dash Core rejects it with `bad-prodis-version`, `bad-proupshare-version`, or `bad-proupsharedreg-version`. The shared enum also rejects versions 0 and 4 during decoding rather than preserving the raw version for the payload check. These three payloads need to decode the raw version and explicitly require version 1, or otherwise apply equivalent validation while preserving the reference rejection behavior.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs:70-76: Shared registrar updates accept malformed operator keys
  `BlsPkBytes` is an unvalidated, scheme-less 48-byte bag, but this check only rejects the all-zero value. Any nonzero byte sequence that is not a valid basic/IETF BLS public key therefore passes when the voting key and signature count are valid. Dash Core validates the operator key and rejects malformed or wrong-scheme encodings. Validate the non-null key with `BlsScIetf` before accepting the payload, returning the existing `OperatorKeyMismatch` error for a non-canonical key.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING → WITHDRAWN in discussion; do not fix] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:292-315: Shared-registration mode is inferred from the share list
  The reference uses a null `collateral_hash` as the shared-collateral marker, but this check sets `shared` only from `!self.shares.is_empty()`. A version-3 value with a null collateral hash, a non-null owner key, valid unshared payouts, and zero shares therefore enters the unshared path and can pass validation. The same malformed payload can be decoded from wire bytes because a zero share count is representable. Core treats the null collateral marker as shared and rejects the missing-share/owner-key shape. Derive shared mode from the collateral marker and enforce the shared share-count and field invariants consistently in `check()` and `check_owner_rewards()`.
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:292-315: ProRegTx validation does not enforce version-dependent field invariants
  `check()` does not require `join_sigs.len() == shares.len()` and does not reject fields that are inactive for the selected version. A serde- or directly constructed value can therefore pass validation with mismatched share/signature counts, shares or early terms below version 3, payouts below version 3, or a non-empty `script_payout` at version 3. `encode()` branches only on `version`: it writes the share count followed by every join signature and silently drops inactive fields. Such values either fail to decode or decode to a different payload, so successful validation does not guarantee a stable wire representation. Add an explicit version/shape validation error before the owner-reward checks.
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:484-487: Provider validation tests discard structured error details
  `check_matches_vectors` compares only the text before the first colon, so the counts, totals, amounts, and penalties carried by the new `ProTxInvalid` variants are not asserted. A regression could return the correct error category with an incorrect payload and still pass the corpus tests. Add direct constructed-value assertions for representative structured errors, or preserve and compare the complete expected error text in the corpus.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupregtx.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupregtx.rs:142-149: ProUpRegTx silently drops fields from the inactive version layout
  For version 3 and later, validation checks only `payouts` while `encode()` ignores `script_payout`; for earlier versions, validation checks only `script_payout` while `encode()` ignores `payouts`. Both fields are publicly constructible and `payouts` is serde-defaulted, so a value can pass `check()` while its signed payload and wire encoding omit populated data. Reject fields that do not belong to the selected version, or enforce a single normalized representation before signing and encoding.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

The PR substantially improves v24 consensus-parity handling, and the previously reported version, layout, structured-error, and shared-mode issues are resolved or withdrawn. One blocking gap remains: the new type-12 shared registrar check accepts arbitrary nonzero malformed BLS operator-key bytes, while pinned Dash Core validates the key before accepting the payload. Several CI jobs, including lint and platform builds, were still pending at the captured head.

  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4370776063)
  `BlsPkBytes` is an unvalidated 48-byte bag, but this check rejects only the all-zero value. Any nonzero malformed encoding therefore passes when the voting key and signature count are valid, and `Transaction::check()` accepts a type-12 payload that pinned Dash Core rejects. At the pinned Core implementation, `CProUpSharedRegTx::IsTriviallyValid` calls `pubKeyOperator.Get().IsValid()` before accepting the payload and returns `bad-protx-key-null` for an invalid key. The wire wrapper uses `legacy=false`, so the concrete local requirement is canonical validation under the IETF/basic scheme; existing null-only checks in older payloads do not justify introducing the same acceptance gap in this newly supported payload.
Out-of-scope follow-up suggestions (1)

These are valid observations, but they are outside this PR's scope and should be handled in separate issues or author/maintainer-requested PRs rather than blocking this review.

  • Validate operator keys consistently across existing provider payloads — The pre-existing ProRegTx and ProUpRegTx checks also reject only null operator keys rather than validating canonical BLS encodings. Applying the same validation to those payloads is a concrete security and consensus-parity follow-up, but it predates this PR and should be handled as one cross-payload change rather than expanding this fix selectively.
    • Follow-up: Create a separate primitives change that validates canonical basic/IETF operator keys across all provider payload checks.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

The PR adds the intended v24 transaction layouts and resolves the previously reported version, shape, and structured-error test gaps. Three blocking consensus-validation issues remain: malformed operator keys are accepted in the new shared registrar path, v3 provider registrations do not validate version-appropriate operator keys, and output-total accumulation can overflow i64. Changed-code CI checks are still queued or in progress; no completed failing code check is reported.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:346-348: Version-3 provider registrations accept invalid operator-key encodings
  The newly supported v3 `ProRegTx` path checks only whether the operator key is null. `ProUpRegTx::check()` has the same omission at lines 149-154. Because `BlsPkBytes` is not validated during decoding, nonzero off-curve keys and keys encoded under the wrong BLS scheme pass these v3 checks, while Dash Core requires a valid operator key and uses Chia for version 1 and Basic/IETF for versions 2 and 3. Add shared version-aware operator-key validation to both registration validators; invalid points should return the null-key error and a valid key in the wrong scheme should return the operator-key mismatch error.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/transaction.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/transaction.rs:279-281: Transaction output total accumulation can overflow i64
  The new signed-value validation uses plain `total += value`. A transaction within the one-megabyte size limit can contain enough minimal outputs at `MAX_MONEY` for the mathematical total to exceed `i64::MAX`. In debug builds this can panic; in release builds it can wrap and potentially make `money_range(total)` pass, causing an invalid transaction to be accepted or producing an incorrect reported total. Use saturating or checked accumulation so overflow is converted into `OutputTotalTooLarge`.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs:86-88: Shared registrar updates accept malformed operator keys
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4370776063)
  `BlsPkBytes` is a raw, scheme-less 48-byte bag. This check rejects only the all-zero value, so any nonzero off-curve encoding and any legacy-scheme encoding can pass when the voting key and signature count are valid. The new type-12 decode and `Transaction::check()` path therefore accept payloads that Dash Core rejects: Core requires a valid operator public key and the Basic/IETF scheme for `ProUpSharedRegTx`. The omission in older provider payloads does not make this newly introduced accepting path safe.
Out-of-scope follow-up suggestions (1)

These are valid observations, but they are outside this PR's scope and should be handled in separate issues or author/maintainer-requested PRs rather than blocking this review.

  • Audit operator-key validation for legacy provider payloads — Existing pre-v3 ProRegTx and ProUpRegTx paths also accept non-null operator-key byte bags without canonical BLS validation. This is a concrete consensus-parity gap, but it predates the new v3 layout and should be handled in a coordinated validation change covering all provider payload versions rather than being expanded piecemeal here.
    • Follow-up: Create a separate issue or maintainer-requested PR to validate every provider operator key under its version-appropriate BLS scheme.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

The PR correctly implements the v24 layouts and resolves the prior serialization, version-gating, structured-error, and shared-mode findings. Two consensus-validation gaps remain: registration and shared-registrar checks accept nonzero BLS key byte bags without validating curve encoding and scheme, allowing transactions that Dash Core rejects. Build and test checks are still queued or in progress, with no completed code-check failure in the supplied CI snapshot.

This payload is newly admitted by the PR and its field is documented as a Basic/IETF key, while Dash Core requires a valid non-legacy BLS public key. Validate the non-null key with the IETF scheme; map malformed keys to the null-key error and a valid legacy-scheme key to `OperatorKeyMismatch` as appropriate for Core's validation distinction.

Thanks for the review. I'm working through #86 and #87 first, and #88's round comes straight after.

That round covers:

  • real mainnet/testnet transactions and blocks in place of the synthetic corpora, with the policy pass/fail checks moved into parametrised tests;
  • CbCommitmentVersion as a make_num! enum;
  • signature types that keep who/what they sign;
  • SignedAmount and byte counting;
  • a single home for the parity tests;
  • comment trimming per AGENTS.md.

The real-chain vectors take the longest, so expect the push tomorrow (10-30). I'll reply on each thread when it lands.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

The v24 special-transaction changes are largely aligned with the reference implementation, and the previously reported encoding-shape, structured-test, and output-total concerns are resolved or withdrawn. Three consensus-validation gaps remain: provider registrations and shared registrar updates accept malformed or wrong-scheme BLS operator keys, and version-3 Evo registrations accept an all-zero platform node ID. No code check has failed in the CI snapshot, but lint and several MSRV/cross-platform jobs remain pending.

🔴 Blocking: Version-3 Evo registrations accept a null platform node ID
pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:120-123

For an Evo registration, decoding an all-zero platform node ID produces Some(PlatformNodeId::default()), but check_platform_fields() only checks whether the option is present. An otherwise valid version-3 Evo ProRegTx with a null platform node ID therefore passes this check, whereas Dash Core rejects it with bad-protx-platform-nodeid. The new version-3 registration support makes this malformed platform identity part of the newly accepted validation surface.

  `ProRegTx::check()` and `ProUpRegTx::check()` only reject a null operator key. `BlsPkBytes` is an unvalidated 48-byte bag, so nonzero off-curve encodings and keys that fail the version-selected scheme check pass these validators even though Dash Core requires a valid operator key and uses Chia for version 1 and Basic/IETF for versions 2 and 3. The existing `ProTxInvalid::OperatorKeyMismatch` variant is never constructed. Because this PR adds the version-3 registration layout and acceptance path, both registration validators need the same version-aware canonical validation before accepting the payload.

  `ProUpSharedRegTx::check()` rejects only a null operator key. Since `BlsPkBytes` does not validate its bytes during decoding, any nonzero off-curve or non-canonical value passes when the voting key and signature count are valid, while Dash Core requires a valid Basic/IETF operator key and rejects legacy or malformed encodings. This type-12 validation path is introduced by this PR, so deferring key validation to a later provider-wide change leaves a new consensus acceptance divergence.

Heads-up on the latest automated review: the null platform node ID finding (check_platform_fields, version-3 Evo registrations) is correct, and it also applies to ProUpServTx through the shared check. A fix with tests is staged as a new commit on top of the current 16, which stay unchanged. It will be pushed once fork CI passes, expected around 06:30 UTC.

- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:345-347: Version-3 provider registrations accept invalid operator-key encodings
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4392395211)
  `ProRegTx::check()` and `ProUpRegTx::check()` only reject a null operator key. `BlsPkBytes` is an intentionally unvalidated 48-byte bag, so a nonzero off-curve key or a key encoded under the wrong BLS scheme passes validation. The new v3 layout and `verify_operator()` use the IETF scheme for versions 2 and 3, while the reference implementation requires the operator key to be valid and encoded under the scheme selected by the payload version. Consequently, `Transaction::check()` accepts malformed v3 registrations that Core rejects. Add version-aware canonical-key validation to both registration checks; this can be shared across the provider payloads.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs`:
- [BLOCKING] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proupsharedregtx.rs:86-90: Shared registrar updates accept malformed operator keys
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4370776063)
  `ProUpSharedRegTx::check()` rejects only null keys and then checks the signature count. Because `BlsPkBytes` is scheme-less and unvalidated, any nonzero off-curve bytes, as well as a valid key encoded under the legacy Chia scheme, can pass when the voting key and signature count are valid. This type-12 payload is new in this PR, and the reference implementation requires a valid Basic/IETF operator key. Validate the non-null key with the IETF scheme before accepting the payload.

Re-review — Final validation — Phase 1 + Phase 2

Static verification of the complete diff at 4953d14 found no blocking defect; five non-blocking API, coverage, rejection-order, and follow-up-tracking items remain. The reported transaction-total defect is refuted by the pinned SignedAmount implementation, whose checked_add enforces the money range. Current CI shows passing MSRV, platform, and documentation jobs, with lint and three cross-builds still pending; no local builds or tests were run.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:126-127: Preserve operator-reward precedence over the new platform-ID check
  This new rejection runs through check_platform_fields before ProRegTx::check reaches its operator_reward check at lines 384–388. An otherwise valid Evo registration with operator_reward = 10001 and a null platform node ID therefore returns NullPlatformNodeId. Pinned Core returns bad-protx-operator-reward: CProRegTx::IsTriviallyValid checks the reward first, and GetValidatedPayload completes that validation before CheckProRegTx calls CheckProviderNetworkFields (https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/providertx.cpp#L323-L325 and https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/specialtxman.cpp#L1157-L1181).

  Both implementations reject the payload, so this is not an acceptance or security defect. Move the operator-reward check ahead of the platform-field check and add a dual-invalid regression case to preserve the PR's stated rejection-order parity.
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/proregtx.rs:535-537: Assert independently decoded collateral-share fields
  The registration fixtures containing non-empty collateral shares assert acceptance and round-tripping without comparing the decoded share table with independently expected fields. check_sptx_raw hashes Transaction's opaque payload bytes, and share.rs constructs its test inputs directly. Neither independently checks the mapping from wire bytes to each CollateralShare's fields and position. A reciprocal ordering error in decoding and encoding could therefore preserve these tests while exposing an incorrect owner-to-collateral mapping through the getters.

  Add representative reference-field assertions for the two-share and eight-share registrations, covering ordered amounts, owner IDs, refund/reward scripts, and early-dissolution terms. Core exposes share details through ShareListToJson (https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/providertx_util.cpp#L67-L88); account for its effective-reward-script fallback when the encoded reward script is empty.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/sig.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/sig.rs:90-95: Track the legacy-key exemption in the new provider validator
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4430984303)
  The legacy/basic distinction in your derivation is correct: Core's legacy reader skips CheckValid(), so today's is_canonical::<BlsScChia>() is not a compatible replacement. The retained null-only branch nevertheless accepts encodings that Core rejects. For example, 0xc0 followed by 47 zero bytes passes this helper, while Core reads it as the identity and CBLSWrapper::SetBytes resets it, causing provider validation to return bad-protx-key-null (https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/bls/bls.h#L108-L132).

  Deferring this unchanged legacy behavior is reasonable, but the supplied PR discussion names only BS11a-1. The now-open https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/101 provides the owning-layer canonical-read work without updating these provider callers. Link a concrete follow-up on this PR whose scope includes replacing this exemption in ProRegTx and ProUpRegTx and adding provider-level malformed/infinity-key regression cases. A tracking reference covering that integration is needed before this item can be deferred; no ad hoc legacy decoder belongs in dash-primitives.

In `pkgs/primitives/src/provider/prodistx.rs`:
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/prodistx.rs:190-194: Exercise unsupported payload versions through decoding
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4433035088)
  The version-0 and version-2 cases edit an already decoded version-1 object and call check() directly. ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx use the same pattern. These tests protect the validation gate, but not the separately documented behavior that unsupported versions decode their complete layout before validation rejects them. Reintroducing an early decoder rejection would leave the current tests passing.

  Add wire-level cases for all three payloads: patch the version bytes of a valid payload, decode it, assert complete input consumption and preservation of the version and remaining fields, then assert the corresponding Bad*Version result. Core's serializers read these layouts without a version gate: https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/0e7382df80d0bc6811068d076b232a5a26d34a3c/src/evo/providertx.h#L452-L462, #L497-L503, and #L532-L545.
- [SUGGESTION] pkgs/primitives/src/provider/prodistx.rs:81-83: Expose each share payload's current version as an associated constant
  (existing thread: https://github.com/dashpay/base-sdk/pull/88#discussion_r4433035091)
  The associated-constant relocation is present, but CURRENT_VERSION remains private here and on ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx. External callers of their public constructors therefore cannot name the supported version through the API and must duplicate the literal 1. Make all three constants public so callers can construct supported payloads without maintaining a separate version constant. This is a non-blocking API improvement, not a violation of a mandatory layering rule.

🟡 Suggestion: Preserve operator-reward precedence over the new platform-ID check

Fixed in primitives%fix!: refuse a null platform node ID. ProRegTx::check now checks the operator reward before the platform fields, as the reference implementation does. Its reward check ends the payload's own checks (providertx.cpp), which run while the payload is read (specialtxman.cpp). The platform node ID is checked only afterwards (call, check). The new case operator_reward_before_null_platform_node_id gives an Evo registration both faults and expects OperatorRewardTooHigh, and it fails on the old order. ProUpServTx::check already checks its platform fields last.

Added in primitives%test: pin the share payload fields to the reference decoder. proregtx::tests::reference_shares checks the two-share registration be0bcc47 and the eight-share registration bf813e53 against what decoderawtransaction reports at v24.0.0-rc.5. It compares earlyPeriodBlocks and earlyPenalty, then amount, refundScript, rewardScript and ownerAddress share by share, in order. The first leaves its reward scripts empty, so the test applies the reference's fallback to the refund script. The second has its own reward scripts and a script-hash refund. Reversing the share order in both decoding and encoding still round-trips and passes every earlier test, but fails this one.

From version 3 both carry a list of owner payouts in place of the payout
script. ProRegTx then carries the collateral shares, their consent
signatures and the early dissolution terms.
Owner payouts and collateral shares are checked for count, rewards or
amounts, scripts and key reuse before the network info. ProUpRegTx also
refuses a payout to its voting key in versions 1 and 2.
From version 3 the collateral key signs the owner payouts, each as its
address or script and its reward, in place of the payout script.
Type 10 dissolves a shared masternode. It is read with one signature
per share, or one by the acting share's owner, and the check refuses
none or more than eight.
Type 11 moves a share's rewards to a key or script hash under the share
owner's signature. Type 12 replaces the operator and voting keys of a
shared masternode with one to eight share owner signatures.
A block whose version 4 coinbase payload does not commit to the
instance hashes of its version 2 asset unlocks now fails its check,
as in the reference implementation.
A ProRegTx constructed with a join signature count other than its
share count, or with shares below version 3, does not round-trip
through its encoding. Its check now refuses both.
A ProRegTx or ProUpRegTx constructed with a payout script from
version 3, or with payouts below it, does not round-trip through
its encoding. Their checks now refuse both.
ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx read their version as
an integer, and their checks refuse any version but 1 with the
reference implementation's reasons.
An Evo ProRegTx or ProUpServTx whose platform node ID is null now
fails its check with the reference implementation's reason, after
the network info checks and before the platform port checks.
`ProDisTx`, `ProUpShareTx` and `ProUpSharedRegTx` keep the version
`check` accepts in an associated `CURRENT_VERSION` constant, as the
reference implementation's payload classes do.
`check_sptx_raw` runs the checks of `check_sptx` on a vector that keeps
only its txid and raw bytes, and returns the payload.
The corpora keep mainnet and testnet transactions. The regtest vectors
become fixed vectors in the tests, each naming the functional test it
comes from.
No mainnet or testnet transaction carries these payloads yet, so their
corpora go.
Check the ProDisTx, ProUpShareTx and ProUpSharedRegTx vectors and two
shared ProRegTx share tables against what `decoderawtransaction` reports
at v24.0.0-rc.5, so a misread field fails even when the bytes round-trip.

Then my suggestion would be to split this change off the PR and place it after dash-pkc can represent the cases you need to be able to validate, same for OffSubgroup

* [43b5438] primitives%refac!: rename `ProTxVersion::ExtAddr` to `CoreV24` (pasta)

Description:

`````
## Motivation
Follows up on #88 (comment). Version 3 of the provider transactions brings several features at once, and network upgrades have no codename, so `ProTxVersion::ExtAddr` is renamed `ProTxVersion::CoreV24`, after the release that brought it.
## Additional Information
- Every use moves to the new name, including the one outside the provider module (`sptx.rs`) and the test case names.
- The version's display name changes from `ext_addr` to `core_v24`. Serde still writes the number.
- `ProUpServTx` drops its v1/v2/v3 list, which `ProTxVersion` documents, as `ProRegTx` and `ProUpRegTx` did in #88.
- Three corpus comments in `proupservtx.json5` say "version 3" instead of the old name.
## Breaking Changes
`ProTxVersion::ExtAddr` is now `ProTxVersion::CoreV24`, and its display name is `core_v24`. The wire format and the serde form (the version number) are unchanged.
## How Has This Been Tested?
- `cargo test -p dash-primitives --all-features` passes, and `cargo clippy --workspace --all-features --all-targets` is clean with `-D warnings`.
- CI (`just test lint fuzz::test`, CodeQL included) is green.
